First Look 2010… AFC East

Posted: June 14, 2010 at 5:07 pm by Graham in Current, Pre-Season, Predictions

We all know that predicting the divisions before the season has started can be, well, lets say – tricky! However, it is one of the things that we love doing and something that serves as a reference point for the changing fortunes of teams throughout the year. Oh, and more importantly means we can refer back to the awful predictions each other made as the year goes on!.

Myron Rolle – Now a Titan

Posted: April 30, 2010 at 12:01 pm by Graham in Team News

Earlier in the year I looked at Oxford student Myron Rolle and his chances of getting drafted for the NFL this season.

I am very pleased that he is now a Tennessee Titan! There have been people who have questioned his commitment, but his answer on his own web site was –

“Where my classmates were drinking at the pubs at 1:30 in the morning or traveling to different parts of the EU, I was working out, training, going to sleep, resting my body, making sure I was ready to compete. I love this game. I love this sport, and I want it to be my vocation for the next 10 years.”

I was secretly hoping that he might end up at the Dolphins, but never mind. Lets hope that the Titans make the trip to London soon so that we can see him play.

Myron Rolle An Honorary Brit To Look Out For Next Season?

Myron Rolle – An honorary Brit to look out for next season?

There is an Oxford student who we may well see on the field next season – Myron Rolle. The budding neurosurgeon previously played strong safety for Florida State and looks to be a great prospect for the draft.

Favourite Four: Linebackers #2 – Ray Lewis

Posted: December 3, 2009 at 12:09 pm by Graham in Favourite Four, Video

Since it’s too painful for Andrew to continue with his Redskin’s Review articles anymore, let us continue with our Favourite Four series, we are currently looking at Linebackers. It’s been a while, and many pages are now without images as we checked licensing on all content a while ago, but if you want to remind yourself. Check the Favourite Four category, where we’ve previously looked at defensive linemen, defensive backs, running backs and now linebackers.

We reiterate that these are some of our favourite players. We can’t vouch that these will be the best players in absolute terms, have the biggest fantasy football upside or even be any good (though they might be)… but they’re players that we like to watch.

Ray Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens is the next on our list.

Results, NFL Week 11 2009

Posted: November 24, 2009 at 5:14 pm by Graham in Results

The arrival of Craig seemed to have a good effect on us. The official Mac prediction only fell short on a couple of games.

Andrew managed to claw yet another game back from me this week, so I am really going to have to up my game. Andrew scored 12-4 whilst Craig and I both got 11-5 this week. I am glad things are getting closer as the season goes on!

What We Got Right (Based on official Mac predictions)

Miami Dolphins @ Carolina Panthers
A – “I think the Panthers should have enough here. Sorry Graham”
G – ” I see Miami just taking it…..no…..really”
C – “my prediction goes to the Dolphins. Miami win”

This turned out to be a great game with Ricky Williams showing that there was little reason to be worried about the loss of Ronnie Brown.

Original article continues…

After a fantastic day at Wembley last Sunday, we will be back on the sofa for these games.  There are some good ones to watch too!

Andrew will be doing his best to catch up, and as ever there are a few that we disagree on.  No guest to put us to shame this week though.  If you are interested in doing guest predictions next week then please get in touch.

Just 13 games again this week.

Sunday 1st Novembers
Denver Broncos @ Baltimore Ravens
A – Week 8 and the undefeated Broncos travel to Baltimore. Yeah… After starting 3-0, the Ravens have suffered 3 consecutive close losses to be at a failry humble 3-3. But the Patriots game went to the wire, and only a hooked field goal attempt let the Vikings win. This is a team that’s better than their record.
So a damned tricky game to call first up, but I’ve got to fancy the Ravens.

G – Ah, I think this is the first time we have picked a different team in the first game on the list.  While the Ravens are the favourites at home I can see the Broncos continuing their form again this week.  Should be a great one to watch and I won’t be too disapointed if I get this one wrong.

NFL Week 6 2009 Predictions

Posted: October 17, 2009 at 5:47 am by Graham in Archive, Predictions

On paper at least it looks like an easy week to read.  That has been the kiss of death in the past though, so lets see how we get on.

Our NFL picks for week 6 as follows:

Sunday 18th October

Baltimore @ Minnesota
A – The Ravens have stumbled a bit over the last few weeks and the Vikes are off to their best start in a while now. Whilst we can’t rule out a second half season Favre collapse yet, we probably can count on Jared Allen becoming good friends with Joe Flacco. Vikings win.

G – I am of the feeling that this one could go either way, but on paper I would take the Vikings.  I can’t see it being an easy one, but it should be another winning week for Minnesota here.

Our Second Guest for Week 6 Predictions

Posted: October 15, 2009 at 9:14 pm by Graham in Archive, Predictions

We are delighted to have not one, but two expert guests for the predictions this week.  Earlier Lawrence gave us his selections .  Now we welcome Brian Davis from www.footballdiner.com as our second guest for week 6.

Hello there Mac Talks NFL readers. My name is Brian Davis and I’m from www.footballdiner.com I’m new to writing for the site this year but have been a reader since its creation following the sad end of First Down and after initially filling in for a friend I have now become a weekly contributor on three fronts during the season and one through the year.

Firstly; “Four Downs” where myself and another writer “Doc” discuss 4 subjects in the news for that week. (http://www.footballdiner.com/profootballfeatureswriter.html) Look for “Dang and Doc” I’m Dang, short for Dangerous Brian based on the Brian Conley character. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ih9kU_CatCg

Secondly; A weekly College Football prediction competition with two other writers and thirdly; I have started doing a weekly “tips” column for the site with some success. Although if teams like the Broncos and the Bengals continue to prove me wrong every week, I may have to become even more conservative than I already have become on there!

I recently interviewed Five’s Nat Coombs http://www.footballdiner.com/natcoombs.html and look out next week as I will be interviewing a very, very, special guest on Monday afternoon, so we will hopefully have that article up online by around Tuesday/Wednesday next week.

San Francisco 49ers – Can they go from nowhere to the Super Bowl?

Posted: October 3, 2009 at 7:30 pm by Graham in Gossip and Rumours

Those who have been following the predictions will know that I fancied the 49ers to do good things from before the start of the season.  They seemed like a team that were quietly working hard.  There were no reports of upset on the run up to pre-season and other than the Michael Crabtree saga, there has been little to worry us since.

Now, I am a gambling/trading man and before the start of the season you could get the 49ers at odds of 120 (119/1).  In fact in one market someone has already made £7,000 trading on this bet before we are even half way through the season!
