Guest NFL Predictions, Week Four
Posted: October 1, 2009 at 9:17 am by Graham in Archive, Predictions
So we’ve had a couple of weeks off from having a guest, and after Andrew being somewhat humbled in week 1 we’re moving away from having Guests who know nothing. This week, we’re very pleased to have our guest introduce themself, and to say that if you’ve any interest in betting on the games, you should definitely check his site out.
Hello Mac talks NFL readers. I’m John from TheBettingAdvantage.com. I started my blog in November 2008 in an effort to share and gain knowledge related to sports betting. Presently I make a living from trading on betting exchanges. I first learned of betting exchanges in July 2007, while in my last year of university. I did finish my engineering degree but never pursued work in the field as being a betting exchange trader is my dream job. I mostly trade North American sports as I have lived all my life in Canada.
I have been following along on here with Andrew and Graham’s picks and am honoured to give my two cents for this week’s NFL games.
Detroit Lions @ Chicago Bears
I grew up watching Barry Sanders and unfortunately for me he made me a Detroit Lions fan. The Lions are one of the teams I’ve watched the most in the past few years. Last week was a big win for the franchise. It was obvious they would end the streak at home as they struggle on the road. This week they are overmatched and in Chicago. The Lions will likely be waiting for week 8 before they win another one. Chicago shouldn’t have too much trouble here.
Baltimore Ravens @ New England Patriots
I think the Ravens can exploit the Pats defence with the run game. Baltimore has never had trouble on the road. I like them to come out on top here.
New York Giants @ Kansas City Chiefs
Giants should have no trouble getting by a Chiefs teams still trying to find their way.
Tennessee Titans @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville’s offence relies heavily on Maurice Jones-Drew. I think the Titans can shut down the run game. Titans will finally get a win.
Seattle Seahawks @ Indianapolis Colts
Quite a few injuries for Indianapolis on both sides of the ball, but they seem to keep rolling. The Colts’ offence should dominate the Seattle defence and the time of possession.
Oakland Raiders @ Houston Texans
Houston’s offence has hit their stride after a weak performance in week one. Kevin Walter returned last week to take some pressure off of Andre Johnson. Houston should have no trouble scoring on the Oakland defence.
Cincinnati Bengals @ Cleveland Browns
Looks like Cleveland will start Derek Anderson at quarterback. The Browns have shown very little on offence so far this season. They haven’t been in any of their three games so far. On the other side Cincinnati is coming off two impressive wins, last week over Pittsburgh and in Green Bay in week two. These two teams are going in opposite directions. I have to go with the Buns here.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Washington Redskins
Another change at quarterback here as Tampa Bay will give second year pro Josh Johnson his first NFL start. Tampa has more problems than the quarterback position, but so does Washington. I gotta go with Washington but wouldn’t take them to cover a spread in the neighbourhood of seven points.
New York Jets @ New Orleans Saints
This is probably the most interesting matchup of the week. The Jets are playing great so far, I think a large part of that is due to new head coach Rex Ryan. The Saints are my pick to win the Super Bowl so I gotta pick them at home.
Buffalo Bills @ Miami Dolphins
This is a tough one as it will be the first time Buffalo will face a team with a good running game, and you better believe the Dolphins will rely on the run with Chad Pennington out. I’m looking for lots of wildcat formations from the Dolphins. I think they get by Buffalo with Chad Henne making his first NFL start at quarterback.
St. Louis Rams @ San Francisco 49ers
Rams are bad. Rams on the road are worse. San Francisco scares me in games like this. They play everyone close, no matter how good or bad the team is, they will play at their level. If there ever was a game where they could finish a team off early it would be this week. San Fran wins but don’t be surprised if it’s close in the 4th quarter.
Dallas Cowboys @ Denver Broncos
I’m still trying to get over that Denver is 3-0. This team is not that good. They got a break in week 1 and have built off it. The wakeup call is this week as their schedule toughens up. I’m going with the Cowboys.
San Diego Chargers @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh is coming off a couple tough road losses. They are returning home and they are pissed off. Pittsburgh wins this one.
Green Bay Packers @ Minnesota Vikings
Green Bay might be the most underrated team in the NFL. I think they give the Vikings their first loss of the season in Minnesota on Monday Night Football.
