Original article continues…

After a fantastic day at Wembley last Sunday, we will be back on the sofa for these games.  There are some good ones to watch too!

Andrew will be doing his best to catch up, and as ever there are a few that we disagree on.  No guest to put us to shame this week though.  If you are interested in doing guest predictions next week then please get in touch.

Just 13 games again this week.

Sunday 1st Novembers
Denver Broncos @ Baltimore Ravens
A – Week 8 and the undefeated Broncos travel to Baltimore. Yeah… After starting 3-0, the Ravens have suffered 3 consecutive close losses to be at a failry humble 3-3. But the Patriots game went to the wire, and only a hooked field goal attempt let the Vikings win. This is a team that’s better than their record.
So a damned tricky game to call first up, but I’ve got to fancy the Ravens.

G – Ah, I think this is the first time we have picked a different team in the first game on the list.  While the Ravens are the favourites at home I can see the Broncos continuing their form again this week.  Should be a great one to watch and I won’t be too disapointed if I get this one wrong.

Houston Texans @ Buffalo Bills
A – Oh my goodness, two of the most erratic and hard to predict teams in one game. The Texans are well set for a post-season run, and I’d like to see them make it. The Bills are hanging in there right now, but are likely to see the Jets pull away from them this weekend however this game goes.
I’m backing the Texans here, but the weather could be a factor.

G – Second game and second disagreement!  Fitzpatrick fits right in at QB and the Bill have pulled some form from nowhere.  Again I am picking the underdog here, and agree that the Texans are probably the better team.  However, they have not shown that they are up to the job week in week out.  Bills for me here.

Cleveland Browns @ Chicago Bears
A – Got to pick the Bears here. They’ve not been great, but the Browns are just awful right now.

G – I have to agree on this one.  Bears for me too.

Seattle Seahawks @ Dallas Cowboys
A – I’ve got to pick Dallas here. They have some momentum, they’re at home, and the Seahawks just aren’t that good on the road.

G -I expected to see nothing but wins at the new Cowboys stadium this year but it hasn’t really worked out like that so far.  I can see this week bringing a win for the Cowboys though.

St. Louis Rams @ Detroit Lions
A – The 0-7 Rams visit the 1-5 Lions. In fact, from the beginning of the 2008 season these two teams have amassed a total of 3 wins. So one of them is going to look a lot better after this week!
…and it’ll be the Lions. I can see Steven Jackson having another big day, but the Lions can put points up a lot easier than the Rams can.

G – We should see the Lions pick up their second win of the season this Sunday.

San Francisco @ Indianapolis Colts
A – Alex Smith will be leading the 49ers, who as Graham says, are starting to slide a little bit after such a good start. The Colts though, are looking great all across the board and no-one is going to be surprised to see Freeney making a sack at some point.

G – Such a promising start for the 49ers.  I am sure they can come back, but this is not going to be the week.  The Colts are just too good right now.

Miami Dolphins @ New York Jets
A – A juicy AFC East matchup, and the game that Sky have chosen as the early game. Sorry Graham.
I suspect we’ll disagree about the result here too… I’m calling the Jets.

G – Stupid Gamepass blackouts.  I am still resisting SKY after my past experiences with them tough.  Miami are on the up and the Jets seem to be struggling to keep it together.  The last clash between these two was a classic game.  The loss against the Saints will be hurting the Dolphins and they will be looking to prove that the first half performance was no fluke.  Miami win for me.

New York Giants @ Philadelphia Eagles
A – Both teams have suffered losses that they probably shouldn’t have recently. The mighty Giants have had two in a row, and the Eagles were beaten by Oakland. All things being equal, I’d back the Giants here and will stick with them.

G – The Giants aren’t going to let us down again right?  Giants here for me.

Oakland Raiders @ San Diego Chargers
A – The Raiders can surprise, but it would take a braver person than I to back them here. Chargers’ win.

G – No contest really.  Chargers should take this by some margin.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Tennessee Titans
A – The best 0-6 team ever… that’s not a tag any team wants, and the erratic Jaguars coming to town might be just what they need. Titans to get their first win of the season.

G – We were discussing the Titans while at Wembley.  The verdict was that there must be deeper problems, it is not all Collins fault!  I want to pick the Titans here for a win, but I just can’t do it.  Jaguars for me.

Minnesota Vikings @ Green Bay Packers
A – This is a must-see game. Which is a shame, as it’s on Sky and therefore blacked out on Gamepass. Brett Favre makes his return to Lambeau Field in what will be more of a cauldron-like atmosphere than usual.
Green Bay’s inability to protect Aaron Rodgers cost them in the previous meeting and that doesn’t look to have improved a great deal. However, I’m backing the Pack to get it done at home.

G – I think I went with Green Bay the last time they met.  I am going to do the same this time around, only I hope I get it right this time.

Carolina Panthers @ Arizona Cardinals
A – The Panthers are another team that have been very disappointing this term, and the Cards are coming off a great win against the Giants. Look for them to continue their good form.

G – Arizona seem to get better and better.  I can see this turning into a good game, but the Cards should come out ahead.

Monday 2nd November
Atlanta Falcons @ New Orleans
A – This could be a great game, but I can’t look past the Saints who have been impressive on both sides of the ball.

G – Another great one to watch.  New Orleans should add another to their record though.

My prediction is that Andrew is coming out on top this week.

It is odd seeing Detroit Lions symbols on this page. The Rams are bad!

  2. Graham says:

Which of the four differences do you think I will drop John? I am guilty of backing the Dolphins again, but I feel that that game could go either way quite easily.

  3. Andrew says:

    I’m due, that’s all!

  4. John says:

I actually liked Andrew’s picks in all four of those games. I realize now that I’m underestimating the Dolphins, although the Jets are really missing Odom at Defensive Tackle.

I knew Andrew would come around eventually.
