We are delighted to have not one, but two expert guests for the predictions this week.  Earlier Lawrence gave us his selections .  Now we welcome Brian Davis from www.footballdiner.com as our second guest for week 6.

Hello there Mac Talks NFL readers. My name is Brian Davis and I’m from www.footballdiner.com I’m new to writing for the site this year but have been a reader since its creation following the sad end of First Down and after initially filling in for a friend I have now become a weekly contributor on three fronts during the season and one through the year.

Firstly; “Four Downs” where myself and another writer “Doc” discuss 4 subjects in the news for that week. (http://www.footballdiner.com/profootballfeatureswriter.html) Look for “Dang and Doc” I’m Dang, short for Dangerous Brian based on the Brian Conley character. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ih9kU_CatCg

Secondly; A weekly College Football prediction competition with two other writers and thirdly; I have started doing a weekly “tips” column for the site with some success. Although if teams like the Broncos and the Bengals continue to prove me wrong every week, I may have to become even more conservative than I already have become on there!

I recently interviewed Five’s Nat Coombs http://www.footballdiner.com/natcoombs.html and look out next week as I will be interviewing a very, very, special guest on Monday afternoon, so we will hopefully have that article up online by around Tuesday/Wednesday next week.

I’ll point out now, (always good to get the excuses for failing in early!) that until last week my picks have been dismal following a healthy 14 in Week 1.

I also have the luxury of picking whilst my team is on a bye week and after last week, those 49ers really need one! So I’m able to avoid homering up and can pick with a clear conscious this week!

So then, to week 6 we look:

St Louis @ Jacksonville. Two teams looking to overcome recent big fat zero’s on scoreboards. Two teams who in 6 weeks of football have put up THREE zeroes between them! Jacksonville has been one of those odd teams to try and call this year, good one week, lay a great big fat goose egg against a Seattle team the next. They’ll have too much for the Rams in this one.

Kansas City @ Washington. Jim Zorn needs to save his job, he needs wins, this might not be the type of game and enough to help him, but wins are wins and every little could help.

Houston @ Cincinnati. Are the Bengals for real? Well, 4-1 and following up a win in Baltimore suggests, that we have to start believing that they are. This could be a real end to end game with lots of yardage and points racked up. I’m picking the Cardiac Cats though. 5-1 for the Bengals.

Baltimore @ Minnesota. Ding Dong, what a game this should be. It needs putting on record, that I love Michael Oher. The Blind Side book and watching him play for Ole Miss last season, really won me over. He was my #1 guy for the 49ers to draft last year and after the kerfuffle we’ve had with Crabtree this year, part of me wishes we did take him. Despite the fact that as a Texas Tech player, I loved Crabtree as well and I know he will be a massive, massive star for us. I think that Jared Allen and co. will be a bit too much for the Ravens depleted O line and Favre will game manage perfectly again to another W.

Detroit @ Green Bay. Despite their complete and utter woefulness on their battered and bruised Offensive line, the Packers should still have enough in the tank to win this one. Stafford, at this point is questionable and the signs are that Calvin Johnson too will not be playing, so with that in mind, the Packers, very comfortably.

Cleveland @ Pittsburgh. Home Win. Every day of the week. This should be walk in the park stuff.

Carolina @ Tampa Bay. Now for two reasons, I would like a home win in this one.

#1 – I want Carolina to suck it up, to enable the 49ers to be able to land two very good players in next year’s First Round of the Draft.

#2 – My Girlfriend Laura is a Bucs fan, every time I pick against them (and rightly so every week so far) she moans! I like what Josh Johnson is doing at Quarterback for the Bucs, so for the right result all round, Bucs win. However, the Panthers appear to be moving back on track, and the Stewart Williams combo is starting to wake from its slumber. This is another winnable game that they have before another tough run hits them, so with that in mind, Panthers win.

New York Giants @ New Orleans. So many good match-ups this week, this is another tough one to call. This is potentially an NFC Championship game preview although The Eagles may have something to say about that. Eli has an incredible road Record for the Giants so I’ll favour them here. The Saints have slowed up slightly in the last two weeks with Brees throwing no TD’s but still getting wins. But still the pick is New York Football Giants.

Philadelphia win @ Oakland, easily.

Arizona @ Seattle. Another potentially storming game this one. Personally, I’ll take a tie, but in reality, Arizona to score last and win the game.

Tennessee @ New England. Now 6 weeks ago, you could have called this either way and it had the look of a real good game about it, much like what last week’s Titans Colts game looked like 6 weeks ago! The reality now is that after this, the Titans are more than likely going to be 0-6. Are they going to be the best 0-6 team of all time? I guess we’ll find out after their bye week in week 7. Pick is the Pats.

Buffalo @ New York Jets. I thought Buffalo might struggle this year, I didn’t think they’d be quite so ugly with it. “Home” win for the lodgers as Sanchez gets back to solid numbers.

Chicago @ Atlanta. Make mistakes and the Falcons will kill you. There’s no way that the difference between the Falcons and the 49ers is 35 points, the 49ers had a real pig of a day. I do think however that the Falcons are a good 7 points better than the Bears, so the pick here is a home win.

Denver @ San Diego. Right. It WILL happen this week. I was convinced it would happen last week, it didn’t. Yes, they are improved, but this is San Diego away. If it was at Mile high, I’d take the Broncos, it isn’t.

If The Broncos win this, it will more than likely be because Norv has screwed up once again as opposed to the Broncos winning through good play.
