NFL International Series 2010: Wembley Watch – 12 Weeks to Go
What’s been happening this week for the two NFL teams bound for the UK later this year?
Denver Broncos
Elvis Dumervil left practice holding his arm earlier this week and the injury (actually to his chest) could keep him out for the season. This highlights the dangerous nature of contracts and the NFL, even in training. Just a week after signing his contract, he may be out for the season. That’s why these guys like to secure their guaranteed money! If he is lost for that long, then he’s a massive loss to the Broncos who will miss his pass rush, and the situation is further compounded by the injury that’s so far kept lineman Darrell Reid out of training. Hopefully it’s not as bad as it seems.
But the most exciting news for us surely that after Buckhalter and Moreno suffered injuries the Broncos have signed LenDale White. No longer quite the same LandWhale, he’s listed at 235 lbs by the Broncos and although he’s due to miss the first four games of the season, he could play a valuable part later in the season.
To make space Kolby Smith has been released after getting a lot of reps in practice… and apparently not impressing.
San Francisco 49ers
Rookie Mike Iupati has been impressing at left guard after David Baas was concussed early into training. Anthony Davis has also been seeing time with the first team. Both of these rookies should see time this year… exciting times for a young 49ers line.
Michael Crabtree has also been impressing. We’ll watch him a bit more closely as pre-season gets under way.
Prediction-O-Meter
Starting this week, we’re proud introduce the Prediction-O-Meter! Proud!
The latest news moves the ball closer to the Bronco’s endzone, predicting a San Francisco win in the 3-10 point range. We’ll see if this changes next week.
