Gamepass Review, 2010 (so far…)
Sep 22nd
If – like us – you’re based in the UK – then you’re lucky enough to be able to watch the NFL not just on Sky and Channel 4 but on Gamepass, the service that’s provided in many markets across the world, but that is not available in the US.
This time last year there had been poor service and refunds after both week 1 and 2, and we’d commented on it here. While it did settle down, it was still a shame that the season opened that way.
This year though, I can honestly say the service has been much improved. The technology has changed, there are no downloads this year, and the user interface has been improved too, but the main thing is that it seems to work much more efficiently than it did before!
I have only a 2mb ADSL connection, but get a fairly high quality picture even from 6pm. Although I get the occasional freeze, or stall, and a few times a night the picture quality will downgrade but for the most part it’s a quality service from when I turn it on (about 2pm BST Sunday to when I turn it off (well gone midnight this week, damn you Texans.) and unplug my laptop from the television.
Graham has similar bandwidth and sees the occassional lock/freeze too but a better picture.
So if you’re looking to take advantage of the offers that inevitably start with the season, feel confident that it’s a good service and a great way to watch the matches.
Jimmy Clausen To Start Against The Bengals
Sep 21st
In a move surprising absolutely no-one who’s ever watched the NFL, and certainly none of us here at MacTalksNFL.co.uk John Fox has announced that second round draft pick Jimmy Clausen will replace Matt Moore as the starting quarterback.
Let’s not mince words, Moore has been terrible. He was always a gamble but his turnovers and all round poor performance have sent him to the bench for now. Clausen has already had spells in both games so far.

Clausen, then at Notre Dame
As we said back at the beginning of June, Clausen was considered the most pro-ready quarterback in the draft and his fall was one of the biggest stories. Now, aged 22 (though he’ll be 23 come the weekend), he’s a starter.
Good luck against the Bengals young man.

Results, Week 2 2010

Well, we’re proving pretty average at this so far this season. The first few weeks do generally prove difficult to predict, regardless of how the games look on paper, and I think we’ll all improve in the next couple of weeks.
If you’re interested in challenging us as a Guest Predictor, please get in touch.

NFL International Series 2010: Wembley Watch – 6 Weeks to Go
Sep 21st
Oooh, 6 weeks!
Not long at all now until the Denver Broncos and the San Francisco 49ers run out at Wembley Stadium here in the UK as part of the NFL’s International Series. Those of you paying attention will realise that it’s less than 6 weeks by two days, but we had to wait as the 49ers were the Monday Primetime game this week.
So, it was home debuts for both teams last night with both teams 0-1 going into the weekend. Good showings from both teams, but different results…
Denver Broncos
Demaryius Thomas came in and make a big splash last night, showing the strength, speed and ability that made him a first round draft pick. Kyle Orton showed great control of the offence and the defence also turned up as the Broncos subdued the Seahawks to take the game.

NFL 2010 Week 2 Predictions
Sep 18th
Week 1 was a fantastic week with some good close games, plenty of excitement and fair few surprises too.
Here are MacTalksNFL.co.uk we had an indifferent week, with only Graham posting a winning record. The 2010 NFL Season, week 2 has some great matches but looks slightly easier to predict (famous last words…) so how do we think this’ll play out?
Don’t forget to check our in-depth look at some of the games by checking the Latest Predictions on the right –> or by clicking the links in the table below.
Week 2, 2010: Baltimore Ravens @ Cincinnatti Bengals
Sep 17th
Well, with week one of the 2010 NFL Season out of the way we can start to see how teams will be clicking and begin to make a better prediction of how their seasons will be turning out. Granted, it generally takes 2 or 3 games to get into the stride of things competitively so we can’t, for example, say the Colts will have a disaster of a year based on one loss. These next few weeks could be ‘make or break’ for a few teams, even if anything can happen in Football.
I’m looking forward to seeing how things pan out anyway, I’m sure you are too! Anyway, let’s take a look at one of the games coming up in week two. Since Andrew took his team last week I figured I’d take mine this week! The Baltimore Ravens go up against the Cincinatti Bengals on Sunday evening.

Week 2, 2010: St. Louis Rams @ Oakland Raiders
Sep 17th
This week I’ll be taking a look at the Oakland Raiders and their visit from the St. Louis Rams.
The Rams have been the whipping boys of the NFC West in the last few years, and have only managed 6 wins in the past three seasons and haven’t had a winning season since 2003. This is a far cry from the team that made the Super Bowl in 1999 and 2001.
NFL Week 2 2010: NY Giants @ Indianapolis Colts

Peyton Manning
So it is time for Manning v Manning showdown, Peyton v Eli. This is only the second time that the two brothers have met in the NFL, and we all know just how brothers can have close battles, lets hope they can bring that to the field and we get a nice tight game.
Peyton Manning will not be as worried about facing his brothers team as he will be about making sure that they don’t go down for a second successive week to the underdog. Last weeks loss against the Texans was the shock result of the week, none of us here at Mac called it, and I am sure very few others did either. More >
Ryan Grant – Out For The Season
Sep 15th
When you think of the Packers, you think firstly of Aaron Rodgers slinging the ball about before you think of their running game, but Grant has put up over 1,200 yards in each of the last two seasons and was expecting similar sorts of numbers this year.
Backup Brandon Jackson steps into the breach, and Dimitri Nance has been signed to address what was a very thing backfield before Grant went down. Brandon Jackson will get the majority of the carries. The Packers, though they won, looked shaky in their opener against the Eagles and losing such an important player could well shake them again. I still fancy them for the NFC North though.
Grant is in the 3rd year of a 4 year contract and we’ll hope that he recovers well to be back next season.

Not a great week for our predictions, but this was a great week for matches and for the landspace of the season in general.
Craig’s 7-9 represents his worst week since he started with us and my 8-8 is not spectacular either. Graham keeps it respectable with 10-6 in a week that saw some ‘locks’ go the wrong way.
We’ll be back later this week with week 2′s predictions and will look to do a little better!
