Happy Christmas from all at Mac Talks NFL

It’s been a great year and a busy season so far. Though we’ve not posted much recently – December is always like that! – we’re still ticking over with predictions and keeping an eye on everything that’s going on in the NFL.

We wish you all the best for Christmas, and a happy New Year. May your team be playing in January.

Merry Christmas

NFL 2010 Week 16 Predictions

Week 16 bridges Christmas Day, indeed it gives us a game to look forward to on that day before settling down Boxing Day night for the majority of the games. So another early start for us this week.

Soldier Field

Soldier Field

Some of the games with important post-season implications are:
The Jets in Chicago to face the Bears. Though Chicago have already won the division, they’re battling with the Eagles for a bye-week. The Jets need to stay strong to hold on to a wildcard spot and to put pressure on the Patriots.

The Ravens are taking on the Browns and need a win to chase the Steelers who are hosting the Panthers on Thursday.

The New York Giants are in Green Bay with both teams chasing play-off spots and Monday night sees the Saints in Atlanta. The Falcons are unbeaten at home this season and a win will give them the #1 seed in the NFC.

Finally, the 49ers are in St. Louis taking on the Rams. If the 49ers win (and the Seahawks lose to the Bucs) then they will go top with one week to go. It’s mind boggling that can be the case considering they will be 6-9

If The Play-Offs Started Today – Week 15 2010

With just two weeks to go three more teams joined the Patriots with confirmed post-season places. Who are the eight that would join them if the playoffs started now?

In the NFC

The Bears dismantling of the Vikings means that they’re confimred as division winners thanks to their 5-0 divisional record; the Packers cannot catch them.

The Saints loss to the Ravens, combined with the Falcons winning means that Atlanta has won the NFC South. They look very much the class of the NFC right now. The Saints, with their impressive 10-4 record, hold a wildcard spot.

In the East the Eagles’ stunning 4th quarter win against the Giants puts them a game above their rivals from New York but they need one more win to wrap things up. The Giants are still in prime position for a wildcard spot and this week they’re the 6th placed team. More >

NFL 2010 Week 15 Predictions

Week 15 sees some more great looking matches coming our way!

The NFC East is facing off, with the Redskins at the Cowboys and – more importantly – the Eagles in New York to take on the Giants. The winner of that game will go atop the division with just 2 games to go.

The AFC South is also all in-division this week, with the Jaguars visiting the Colts and the Texans going to Tennessee to take on the Titans. If the Colts win I think they’ll go ahead of the Jaguars based on a tie-breaker of games against common opponents.

Other good-looking matches included the struggling Jets at the Pittsburgh Steelers, the New Orleans Saints at the Baltimore Ravens, Green Bay at the New England Patriots and Detroit at Tampa Bay

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots have their eyes on another Super Bowl victory! They’re the favorites to win it this season in the Super Bowl betting sportsbook but they’re not nearly as big of a fave as they will be right before the playoffs! Don’t miss out on getting a fair price on the team you believe will in the 2011 Super Bowl!

If The Play-Offs Started Today – Week 14 2010

On the week that the first team booked their post-season place (and in some style) let’s take a look at what we’d be looking at if the play-offs started this week.

In the AFC

That the New England Patriots are the number 1 team is in no doubt after successive thumpings of the Jets and the Bears. The Patriots are looking at home field advantage. The Steelers are also the proud owners of a bye-week, but have the Ravens one game back but behind on tie-breakers – they hold a wildcard spot.

The Jaguars are leading the AFC South, but are behind the West leadering Chiefs thanks to More >

Results, Week 14 2010

Two more great weeks of football have passed since we last updated our numbers. Compared to the Yahoo! Sport guys, we’re holding our own… as long as we ignore Jason Cole who has had a great season so far.

With just three weeks left, it’s still close between us. Anyone could take the honours yet this season.

NFL 2010 Week 14 Predictions

Week 13 turned up some surprisingly results. The Patriots delivered a stark and efficient warning to the Jets and the rest of the AFC that they’re for real. The Steelers found a way to best the Ravens in an intriguing match. Elsewhere the Colts and Chargers both lost to put severe dents in the post-season plans of both teams whilst in the NFC the Falcons still lead the way.

Week 14 has some more big games. Thursday night sees the Colts take on the Titans in a must-win divisional game. Despite losing 6 games so far, and with Peyton Manning struggling, the Colts are still in contention thanks to the closeness of the AFC South. But this is a must win game for both teams.

Still in the AFC, the Chiefs head west to take on the Chargers in a key battle of the AFC West.

Moving to the NFC, the Falcons have a gimme against the Panthers (famous last words…) and the Saints take on the NFC West leaders the St. Louis Rams. Also in the west, the 49ers host Seattle in a final throw of the dice. An 8-8 team could make it out of the NFC West but a loss for the 49ers and it will be all over.

The Bears are in Detroit and the Eagles in Dallas in some other divisional games.

NFL 2010 Week 13 Predictions

13, unlucky for some, is here and there are some mouth-watering matchups this week, especially in the AFC which could look completely different byTuesday.

Sunday night sees the Steelers visit the Ravens. Both teams are 8-3 and looking to control the AFC North and make a play for the conference as a whole. Surely it can’t get better than that? Well, on Monday night the Jets travel north to Foxboro to take on the Patriots. Both of them are at 9-2 and looking to control the AFC East. That’s the four best teams in the AFC facing off, in division. There’s a strong case that they are the 4 best teams in the entire NFL at this point and those two games should be great. It’s a shame that here in the UK you’re going to need to stay up late to see them!

Elsewhere there are some great divisional matchups that will shape the play-off race. The Atlanta Falcons travel to Tampa Bay, the Rams go to Arizona looking to stay atop the NFC West.

The AFC West is also facing off in-division with The Chargers host Oakland with both teams looking to catch the Chiefs who are facing the Broncos. The Broncos are theoretically still in contention. Finally in the very close AFC South the Jaguars are in Tennessee to take on the struggling Texans. This division could easily turn on its head with only 1 game separating 1st and 4th.

If the Play-Offs started today… week 12 edition

Let’s take a look at what would happen if the season had just finished and teams are preparing for Wildcard Weekend.

The AFC First…

The New York Jets and the Baltimore Ravens have the bye weeks. Both teams have been on top form, with the edge probably going to the Jets, though they’ve been in some close games.

In the Wildcards we have the New England Patriots at Jacksonville Jaguars and the Pittsburgh Steelers @ Kansas City Chiefs. In both wildcard instances, the visiting team has a better overall record than the division winners and will fancy their chances. The East and North in the AFC are looking very strong indeed. More >
