Don’t Ask Derek Anderson Why He Was Laughing

Look, some things are only funny at the time, just don’t ask Derek Anderson what they are…
I’ve Got A Feeling… (Super Bowl XLV Half Time Show)
Nov 26th
After several years of established “rock” acts, this year’s half time Super Bowl has been announced as being the Black Eyed Peas.
Personally, I don’t think they are a big enough act for arguably the world’s biggest stage but I don’t usually do much more than grab another beer and refill the Doritos bowl at half time. Certainly I’m not going to feel the need to rush back to the sofa in a big hurray to see the Redskins carry on pounding the Dolphins*.
But it takes all sorts, and as long as they provide a spectacle then they’ll have done their jobs.

Week 12, 2010: Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Baltimore Ravens
Nov 26th
Week 12 has rolled around and a new set of fixtures are there to be predicted! So let’s do what we do best, well… what we do kind of well, and that’s take a look at a game a piece in slightly more detail that just saying ‘Detroit win’. This week I’ve landed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who are playing at the M & T Bank Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens.
NFL 2010 Week 12 Predictions
Nov 25th
It’s week 12 and Thanksgiving time. Through the medium of cinema I’ve learned this holiday involves eating turkey and learning valuable life lessons, and possibly falling in love. For the NFL, it means games in Detroit and Dallas. This year, New York joins them as the Jets host the Bengals.
Detroit’s long and storied Thanksgiving history (for more information, check out this page from their official site) gives them a 34-35-2 record. This year sees the New England Patriots in the Motor City.
On Sunday in the NFC we have two matches featuring teams ranked in the top 6. The Packers take on the Falcons and the Bears visit the Eagles in some big games. The Buccaneers travel to Baltimore as we’ll start to find out if they’re for real or not this year.
In the competitive AFC South, the Titans and Texans will look to hang with the Jaguars and Colts. Speaking of the Colts, they’ll be hosting the Chargers who are having their usual good run in the second half of the season and who are always dangerous.
So yet again some great matches, and yet again some difficult ones to call.

Week 11, 2010: Washington Redskins @ Tennessee Titans
Nov 18th
If there was ever a time to be thankful for a short week, coming off a Monday Night spanking is surely the time. The Redskins were outclassed in every phase of pretty much every play as the Eagles came to FedEx Field and put up a whole bunch of records on the way to delivering a divisional smackdown.
The Redskins will be thankful to leave town and head to Nashville to face the Tennessess Titans, where they might be able to escape some of the boos and jeering.

NFL 2010 Week 11 Predictions
Nov 18th
Week 11 and another early start thanks to the Bears visiting the Dolphins on Thursday night.
Yet again there are some great – and important – games this week. The Green Bay Packers visit the Minnesota Vikings and will be hoping to sweep their great rivals in a reverse of 2009′s results. With 4 other teams on 6-3 (including the Bears) the Packers need to keep winning if they’ve serious aims on the play-offs.
The New York Giants travel to Philadelphia with control of the NFC East on the line. The Broncos visit the Chargers, with the loser probably being knocked out of contention in the competitive AFC West. Certainly I wouldn’t fancy Denver’s chances of recovering from 3-7.
The NFC South will look to continue its strong run, with the Saints, Falcons and Bucs all playing winnable games.
And lastly we have the always interesting match of the Colts against the Patriots. These two teams always give a good game, and both teams need a win. This could be a classic.
The bye-weeks are all finished, so it’s a full complement of 16 games this week. For a list of the games, visit http://www.nfl.com/schedules.

The 2010 NFL Season… Overtime Overload!
Nov 15th
Last week there were 3 games that went to overtime, which I don’t know is a weekly record, but added to the very high number of games going into a 5th quarter so far this year. And it continued last night.
When Josh Brown kicked to draw the Rams level with the 49ers as regulation expired last night, the 13th game of the 2010 season went into overtime. This equals the 2009 regular season, and is only 2 games behind the 2008 season. At this rate, we’re looking at 22 games going to overtime in this regular season alone. Great for the fans, but hard work on the players.
This year the post-season sees the new overtime rules coming into play, where if the first possession yields a FG then the game with continue. I like it, but wonder how much gametime it would have added to the games that already getting longer and longer. Personally, I love it. But I’m not sure I would if I was being asked to put my body on the line for this additional playing time.
The big winners so far are the New York Jets, who are 2-0 in OT after wins against Browns and Lions. The losers? The Packers, who are 0-2 against the Dolphins and Redskins.
