Yes, they’re late (sorry Andrew, been a very bust week – C). But here are our picks for the NFL 2009 week 14 matches.

Sunday 13th December

New Orleans Saints @ Atlanta Falcons
C - A few times this season we have seen the Saints on the brink of defeat, only for them to claw their way back and snatch victory. It’s this that makes a team great. The Colts too have done this. No one seems to be able to kill the game off against them. They are beatable for sure, but it’s just finding the right team to do it on the right day. For that reason, i’m backing New Orleans to take the win here and remain undefeated. Atlanta are a decent side, but i feel the Saints are stronger across the board.

A – A lovely NFC South Matchup… The Saints can count themselves lucky last week after just edging past the Redskins – I don’t want to talk about it, but the upshot is that they’ve booked their place in the post season and are looking odds on for a first round bye. The Falcons are 2 games down on a wildcard spot and only one game up on the Panthers, who are starting to get going (albeit it a little late!). They need this one.
But the lucky wins they’ve had, combined with when they’ve been playing well, is starting to make me think that the Saints could go unbeaten this season. I’m going with my heart here and backing them in this game.

G – We all predicted an easy win for the Saints last weekend and almost ended up looking very silly. While they are still unbeaten, we know they can be beaten. That said I don’t think they will drop their record in this game. Saints Win.

Detroit Lions @ Baltimore Ravens
C – We couldn’t ask for a better match really. The Steelers lose to the Browns, and we are up against a Lions side who, although have improved, are there for the taking. Winning this gets us one step closer to the play offs, so the boys will be up for the game. I’m looking to see Flacco improve as his last few games have been quite disappointing. Hopefully we won’t see quite as many penalties in this game though! Ravens win.

A - Oh Baltimore, Baltimore… only the Steelers’ five game slide is keeping the Ravens in the wildcard race. And no mistake, they are well and truly in it. A game against the Lions is probably just what the doctor ordered and I see them picking up a win.

G - Craig should take some joy from this game just as he has from the Steelers downfall. Ravens win.

Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears
C -Green Bay have been great to watch this year. The team has clicked and everyone is doing their bit. The defence has been tight, the offence has been scoring freely, they’re looking like the team i thought they would be at the start of the season. (Packers were my pick for the Superbowl). I’ve got to go for them against the Bears this Sunday. I don’t see any other outcome.

A – Another great division matchup, this time in the NFC North. The Packers have recovered from a 4-4 start to be 8-4 and in wildcard contention. They could yet catch Minnesota, but would suffer from the tie-breaker if it came to it. Aaron Rodgers is quietly having a great year and the rest of the Pack have stepped up in the middle part of the season to put them where they are now.
The Bears… well, they’ll want to forget this season and look to come back stronger next season. I think this will be a close game, but fancy Green Bay to be hungrier here.

G – Green Bay dropped off for a while, but it seems they are back and have been playing some nice football. I have to pick them to overcome the Bears.

Denver Broncos @ Indianapolis Colts
C – I still think the Colts are beatable, as are the Saints (as i said previously). It’s just finding the right team to beat them. I think the Broncos will give the Colts are really good game. Their defence is pretty solid (bar a few minor mistakes) and the offence is good on it’s day. I’m sticking my neck out and going for a Broncos win! (Hey, it worked for the Browns! )

A – The Broncos have done well to arrest a mid-season slump that threatened to put them in full-on crisis mode. They’re not tucked one game behind the Chargers and looking good value for it.
That said, I don’t think anyone would pick against the Colts this week. And I’m not going to either.

G - This should be a great game. I still think the Broncos are class, but the Colts are in a league of their own at the moment. I pick the Colts.

Buffalo Bills @ Kansas City Chiefs
C – Not the most explosive match up of the day to be honest, but it could be a good watch. With not much to pick between them i’m going for a Bills win.

A – When I’ve said before that a game looks like one to avoid, it’s been a barn-stormer. So I’m not going to say that this time, just that I think the Bills will get past the Chiefs.

G – I let the end of my fantasy season rest in the hands of Fumblin’ Fitz and it didn’t work out too well. That said I think things will come together for the Bills and I am picking then here.

Carolina Panthers @ New England Patriots
C – As the boys have said, i can’t see the Pats losing 3 on the trot by any means. I still don’t know how they lost their previous 2 to be honest. They are a strong team who have blipped. I see them getting back on track this Sunday. Pats win.

A – The Patriots, by their standards, are struggling. Two losses in a row has meant that the Jets and Dolphins are both just one game away. The Dolphins – at 4-2 in division – are definitely creeping up on them. Carolina took their time to get going, but a win today could put them second and give them a thin chance of playing in January, so they’ll be up for this.
This isn’t the best way to predict games, but I can’t see the Pats losing 3 in a row so I have to pick them.

G - I am sure the Pats will want to put last week behind them and this is a great game to do it. They really should win this one, I hope so, I can’t stand to see that look of disbelief on Brady’s face again. Pats win.

New York Jets @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
C – I’m going with a Jets win. I feel the Bucs are starting to gel and will definitely put up a good game, but there is still no consistency. Freeman has done a good job since gaining the starting QB position and my hat is off to him. Sanchez is out by the looks of it so we could very well be seeing a run orientated Jets team. Unfortunately for the Bucs they don’t have the best rush defence in the world, so i’m basing my prediction on this.

A – Surely the Jets here. They have their problems, but are a better team than the Bucs.

G – I am going to pick the Bucs here. The home advantage will give them the boost that they need, and the Jets are inconsistent enough to slip up here. (Oi, i make the bold predictions round these parts! -C)

Cincinnati Bengals @ Minnesota Vikings GAMEPASS BLACKOUT WARNING
C - Has the makings of a good game. However i would say the Vikings should win this. Can find myself to go against this team! (I’m sure i’ve said this before >_>)

A – This could be a great matchup, with the top two North teams facing off. The Vikings are a better team, but the Bengals have won games when it mattered and are a staggering 6-0 in division.
In the Dome though, I think I fancy the Vikes.

G – As Andrew says this should be a good one to watch, but the Vikings should pull this one off.

Miami Dolphins @ Jacksonville Jaguars
C – I’m going for the Dolphins here. (So much so i have put Hartline in my fantasy team for this weeks important play off game. I did debate putting Henne in too, but i think Schaub will come good finally.)

A – The Dolphins “six-pointer” (in soccer speak) against the Pats last week has put them just one game away from the AFC East lead and they’re looking good value for it. You never know with the Jags, but I see the Dolphins gaining in confidence. That alone should get them past their state rivals.

G – Can’t wait for this game. Miami are in a good position to be able to win their remaining games against teams who, at the start of the season I wouldn’t have written off so easily. My daughter will be supporting the Jags, so it will be a nice noisy game at home. Miami win for me.

Seattle Seahawks @ Houston Texans
C – As Andrew has said, it’s getting frustrating watching the Texans play. They’ve started strong, and at the moment are really a different team. Schaub hasn’t been playing like the QB he was earlier in the season, maybe the injury will make him play the simple yet effective game instead of the ambitious and reckless one? We’ll see. I still think they’ll get it done over the Seahawks, who have been largely disappointing.

A – I’ve practically given up predicting the Texans. Who knows what they’ll do on any given sunday? Still, I’m going to stick with them as the ‘Hawks are at least as erratic!

G - Hmm, Crystal ball time. What Texans team will turn up? I am not sure, but there is more chance of their ‘good’ team turning up than Seattle’s good team, so on that weak basis I pick the Texans.

St. Louis Rams @ Tennessee Titans
C – I think VY, CJ and the Titans will get this done. The Titans can shut down Jackson and not have to worry about threats from elsewhere.

A – The Titans are the turnaround team of the season so far and will look to build on this. It’s hard to fancy the Rams in Nashville.

G – Tennessee win for me.

Washington Redskins @ Oakland Raiders
C – After last weeks performance i think the Skins will be going into this game with a large amount of confidence. Rightly so. Whilst the Raiders have provided a few shock victories this season, i still think the Skins will see them off comfortably.

A – If there’s one positive to take from this season, it’s that the Redskins have not quit. They’re out there playing hard every week, and were very unlucky against the Saints last week. The squad is stepping up, the vets are playing hard and Campbell is probably playing for a job somewhere else next season.
This isn’t even a fan-blind pick: Redskins to win.

G – This could end up being the game of the week. The Skins are getting better and you just never know what to expect from the Raiders at the moment. I am going to back the Skins and hope at the very least I am correct about the great game.

San Diego Chargers @ Dallas Cowboys GAMEPASS BLACKOUT WARNING
C - I’m going for a Chargers win too. Vincent Jackson v Miles Austin. I can see both players being double marked, so it’s whoever has the movement to create something, i think Austin has the agility edge here. Rivers v Romo. I can see Rivers having a far more consitent game. Barber v LT. LT appears to finally be getting into the groove, where-as Barber seems to be losing it. Overall, i think the Chargers are the ones in form and i see the Cowboys losing this one.

A – December, the Cowboys? Seems easy enough… The fact that it’s the Chargers makes it even easier! I’m backing the Chargers, but have a feeling I could be bitten with this one.

G – Stupid gamepass blackout! The Chargers go into this one as the underdog according to the bookies. I can’t see it myself, the Chargers are the better team in my eyes and are my pick here.

Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants
C – This is going to be a good game. IF the Giants win and the Cowboys lose, then i think that 3 teams in the NFC East will be on 8-5. That’s how close it is. BUT, i see the Eagles getting one over on them.

A – The Giants are stumbling on, and the Eagles are looking like the class of the NFC East right now. But it’s never that clear cut in a most competitive division. I think the Giants will have enough about them here, it what I expect to be a close game.

G - Another very close game. I fancy the Eagles to win it by a beak……did you see what I did there? (You’re killing us, G. — Andrew)

Monday 14th December

Arizona Cardinals @ San Francisco 49ers
C - A tough one to call, i do like the 49ers. I think that Gore is a real asset to the team, Crabtree is playing now and is doing well for himself, and Smith has come in and is holding his own. The Cardinals are strong, especially at receiving. They are very much a passing team. the 49ers need to shut this down. Overall, i see a high scoring game to be honest. However, i think the 49ers will edge it.

A – Ooh, a tough game to call. The Cardinals are 3 games clear and will be looking to wrap the division up sooner rather than later. The 49ers are looking to finish strong, knowing that a playoff spot is probably beyond them now and the pressure is off. They’re becoming an infuriating team to call…
But I can’t see past the Cardinals here. Sorry Graham.

G - On paper an Arizona win. But, I am taking the 49ers for a home win.

So, as Andrew does not have access to the site at the minute you have me to welcome you to this weeks MAC predictions. I, Craig, will be your host. Now, I’m not one for introductions, so without further ado let’s see what we think of the upcoming match.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cleveland Browns

C – Hmmmm.. this is tougher than it should be. After a strong performance against the Chargers last week you’ve gotta give the Browns credit. They are slowly improving. Quinn, while inconsistent, has proven he can play well. The Steelers are really having a horrible time at the moment. 2 divisional losses to the Ravens and Bengals, and losses against the Chiefs, and the Bills. All in 4 games. So… going off this information i have, and wanting the Steelers to lose to keep the Ravens in the hunt for the Wildcard spot… i’m going for a Browns win!

A - Graham here delivering Andrew’s phone vote. He said something about champers, a Rolls Royce and a ditch. I couldn’t really understand him over the phone before they took him back to the cells. You think he would have learned not to use his one phone call to call me by now, but he wanted to make sure that the readers got the predictions. Tempted as I am to put him down for the Browns, I did just make out that he said the Steelers….followed by ‘You’ll never pin it on me copper’….

G – It is hard to rate the Browns here in what should be a business like win for the Steelers. Lets just hope Quinn and co can pull out all the stops to deliver a close Thursday night game. My pick – Steelers.

After us suggesting the Jets would have enough to beat the Bills last night, we’ll be hoping that form carries on over the weekend!

So here we go with the rest of this week’s picks for week 13 of the 2009 NFL season.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Atlanta Falcons
C – Atlanta did well to come away with the win against Tampa last week (Grrr…), some might say ‘lucky’. They’re missing Ryan and Turner (although Turner could well return fully this week, haven’t seen the latest report on Ryan) who are their 2 main weapons in offence. The Eagles have been looking more impressive as of late, although they did just about beat the Skins last week. McNabb is looking brutal, and DeSean Jackson is reaping the benefits of that. I’d say a comfortable Eagles win.

A – This has the makings of a terrific match, and not just because of all the bird puns we’re going to get over the weekend. Both teams are second in their divisions, and fighting for a wildcard spot whilst trying to keep the third placed teams (Panthers and Giants) behind them. The Falcons though, have no chance of catching the division leader but the NFC East is still to play for.
This is a tough game to call, but I think the injuries might be an obstacle too much for the Falcons so I’m picking an Eagles win.

G – I am going with the Eagles on this one, but this is a game where there will be feathers flying…..did you see what I did there? (Yes Graham. Everyone did. –Andrew)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Carolina Panthers
C – I opted for Tampa last week, and they just couldn’t finish the game off and ended up losing in the last few moments. They’re looking better, no doubt about that, but the defence couldn’t hold on and that’s the difference between winning and losing games like that. To be honest i’m expecting the same this week. Freeman played a good game and is looking like he could become a big name in the NFL over the coming years. I’ve no doubt he can get the team points on the board. I just think the Panthers will end up out scoring them. DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart will be up for this game so watch out for them bullying the Tampa D. Panthers to win.

A – Yeah, I have to agree with Craig here. The Bucs are doing as much right as they can do at the moment, but the Panthers are a stronger side overall and are also finding their groove at a good time. It remains to be seen whether they can make themselves a factor in the wildcard race, but I fancy them here.

G – Panthers again for me, but this game really could end up being a close one.

St. Louis Rams @ Chicago Bears
C – The Rams battled away against Seattle last week, it just wasn’t enough. Unfortunately the lack of options at wide receiver showed and they weren’t really able to muster anything great. Jackson managed another TD which is great for him, but he can’t be relied on each and every week. Something needs to happen at the Edward Jones Dome before they get stuck in a rut. The Bears got tore apart at the hands of the Vikings. Jay Cutler isn’t have a bad season, but as games progress he seems to get frustrated and his passes get wild, resulting in picks. Only 2 against Minnesota though, i expected more. I still think he will get the job done against the Rams though. Chicago win.

A – The Rams have been in some good games, and have been unlucky at times. They still look poor, but have found ways to hang in there. Most notably against the Saints. The Bears… well, they’re shaping up to be this year’s biggest disappointment. However, I fancy them here.

G – The Rams are looking fair now, but it is still very difficult to pick them. The Bears for me this week.

Tennessee Titans @ Indianapolis Colts
C – As impressive the Titans have been at late, how i can opt against a team that is currently undefeated? The Colts seem to have found a knack of winning games that they are losing by busting out big plays, both offensively and defensively. Last week a prime example. Houston have a great lead at half time, and then BAM! 21 points in the 4th quarter. Amazing stuff. I think the Titans will prove to be a stern opposition however. Since Vince Young has taken the reigns at QB they look like the team that went 9-0 last year. He’s really made me take notice. Alas, i foresee a Colts victory.

A – The Titans have made big strides that they will be looking to build on, and Vince Young’s (long-awaited?) emergence as leader of the team is a massive step forwards for the future. We’ll talk about Chris Johnson soon, I’m sure, as he’s bearing down on the rushing record mark for the season.
But the Colts are something else right now. In the last 5 games they’ve come back to win after being behind in the 4th quarter. This is a team that to beat you’re going to have to put them away in the first half and hang on… I can’t see the Titans doing either of those things.

G – The Titans have surprised me the last few weeks and I have lost a few picks by going against them. Never to be put off, I will not be picking them again this week. The Colts still look great and I expect a win here.

Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs
C – The Broncos surprised everyone last week i think with a 20 point win over the Giants. Yes, they did go 6-0 at the start of the season, but then they went on a losing streak (4 on the trot). I didn’t expect them to come out and win, especially by the margin they did. Could be the turn-around point of the season which could seem them march on to the play offs. Wild card possibility? I think the Chargers have their division wrapped up. The Chiefs are having a disappointing season by all means. 3-8, no chance of the play offs. It’s now just about finishing strong for them, but i can’t see it starting this week. Broncos win.

A – The Broncos aren’t a bad side, but it took them too long to arrest their slide after the strong start. The Chiefs, much like the Bucs, are building and continually improving but think they’ll struggle this week. Broncos to win.

G – I still rate the Broncos and was probably foolish not to pick them last week. They should have more than enough to see off the Chiefs.

New Orleans Saints @ Washington Redskins
C – This prediction has nothing to do with the Saints being undefeated, i just see them winning this game. They have been amazing this year though. Last week Brees only hit 18 passes, but they went for an average of 21 yards each, and a TD every 4 plays. That is immense. So sorry Skins fans (Andrew >_>), but i see another loss coming your way to add to a bad season.

A – There are probably 27 other teams I’d rather face than the Saints. No need to apologise Craig, they’re gonna have fun with us in all aspects of the game. I see embarrassment.

G – It is going to take more than the home advantage to save the Skins here. Regardless of the opponent I would say Saints win this week anyway.

Oakland Raiders @ Pittsburgh Steelers
C – Aaah the Steelers, current Superbowl champions.. what happened to that team? Currently on a 3 loss streak.. First the Bengals (for the second time this season), a shock loss to Kansas, and a loss last week to the Ravens (That’s two big divisional games), a current overall record of 6-5. Normally i’d say that they should win this game with ease, but i think that it will be closer than they would like. Oakland are tough to break down, and Ben ‘Will Ferrell’ Roethlisberger will need to bring a good game to get the better of them. In all, i’m going to say a Steelers win.

A – The Steelers’ form this year has been disappointing, but not particularly unexpected based on recent history. And although the Ravens have also struggled to make their mark on the division it’s the Bengals who are seizing the moment. However, I think any post-season party is poorer for the Steelers not being invited. But beyond wanting them there, they’re a better unit than the Raiders and I fancy them to get the job done this week.

G – Expect the Steelers to get things level again this week with a win.

Houston Texans @ Jacksonville Jaguars
C – As i said before, i like Houston. They’re a decent team playing well. Schaub had a great first half against the Colts last week, but as is fitting with his season so far his second half was the opposite. He either starts strong and finishes weak, or starts weak and finishes strong. Before people can start calling him a ‘great’ NFL QB he needs to get this together and be constant. He has the ability to be a great, so lets see how he goes. That said, i think he, and the Texans, will win this bout. Jacksonville have also been up and down this season. MJD has been non-exsitant these last few games (66 yards against the Bills was a bit shocking in my opinion) so he needs to step up and make some noise this week. So yeah, Texans win.

A – Talk about a bogey match. The two teams I have the most trouble predicting together in one match. I backed the Texans last time, who let me down, but I think they’re the stronger team at the moment so will see if they can get the job done this time.

G – I am going against you boys here and picking the Jaguars. I feel they are the slightly more consistent team, which coupled with the home advantage might just swing it their way.

New England Patriots @ Miami Dolphins
C – After getting slaughtered at the hands of New Orleans you’ve gotta think that the Pats are going to come into this game all guns blazing. This was a team loss and both sides let each other down, so now they need to rally together and push on. Miami too have come off a disappointing week so they’ll probably be feeling the same. This could be a great game, but at the end of it i think the passing game of the Pats will win the game.

A – Sorry Graham, but I think the spanking the Pats took at the hands of the Saints last week will make for a painful game for the ‘Fins this week.

G – The Pats arn’t all that…..I would have to be mad to pick Miami right? The Dolphins can win this, I am sure. Miami win! (disclaimer, don’t put any money on this fan blindness pick)

Detroit Lions @ Cincinnati Bengals
C – Although the Bengals haven’t been putting big scores up as of late i still think they will have enough to beat the Lions. I think the lack of Cedric Benson has affected the offensive output overall, but i’ll be expected Palmer to start getting some scores this week. 3TDs? The Lions have certainly been a better team this term, and Stafford has definitely helped with that, but the defence is still leaky and they can’t be expected to win games by simply outscoring the opposition. The Bengals defence will hold tight so it will be a struggle for them to do that. Bengals win.

A – I see a low scoring game going the Bengals way.

G – This should be a comfortable win for the Bengals.

San Diego Chargers @ Cleveland Browns
C – The Chargers are on a roll and will be crowned champions of their division. No doubt. They have been superb, especially these last few weeks. Everyone is playing a part in it too. I don’t see them having a problem beating a down and out Browns side. Morale is low, the fans are getting on their back, it’s a no win situation this season. Chargers to have another big game and win.

A – Like I said last week, there are not many teams that I’ll back to beat the Chargers. The Browns aren’t one of them either.

G – I think the home advantage might swing the Chargers way here! I can’t see the Browns coming close to an on form San Diego, Chargers win.

Dallas Cowboys @ New York Giants
C – A massive game for both teams. If the Cowboys win then they’ve all but won the division. If the Giants lose, they’ve all but missed out on the play offs. So i expect it to be high on action, fast paced and brutal. Everything i love about the game. Both quarterbacks are inconsistent and all eyes will be on them. Romo v Eli. In the end, i think it’ll be Romo that comes out on top.

A – A big NFC East matchup. Both teams have lost games that they shouldn’t have this year, and the Cowboys are shaping up for their usual late-season meltdown. The Giants have already had theres, and have struggled through a terrible few weeks. With the Redskins not being, you know, very good, these two teams have let the Eagles come well and truly back into contention. Will the NFC East send three teams into the post-season again? It’s not looking likely, but a Giants win mix things up nicely.
Personally, I can’t see past the Cowboys here. They’ve not been playing well (neither team has) but I think that they will step up when they need to.

G – On first glance I was leaning towards the Giants, but I just don’t have the confidence. I am going for a Cowboys win from a hard fought battle.

San Francsico 49ers @ Seattle Seahawks
C – I think this will be a closer game than at first glance. The 49ers seem solid enough. Good defence, good offence. Seattle are probably a little stronger on the offensive side of things but weaker on the defensive. Forsett has done very well since coming in for Jones, rumour is though that Jones will be playing this weekend. We’ll see what happens. I do like the 49ers though and i see them grinding out a victory this week.

A – I’m still a little miffed that the Seahawks haven’t been better this year. Not because I particularly admire them (no more than many other teams) but I had thought they would do.
The 49ers continue to impress and I for one am happy to see Alex Smith playing (for starters!) and doing so fairly well. This is a big divisional game for the 49ers, as a win will see them sneak up on the Cardinals and leave the Seahawks behind. Graham’s enthusiasm for the ‘niners is also somewhat infectious, so I find myself backing them this week.

G – Glad to see everyone has picked the 49ers this week (should we expect a loss?). I still think there is more to come, lets just hope Singletary can beat it out of them. 49ers win.

Minnesota Vikings @ Arizona Cardinals
C – I just can’t bring myself to vote against the Vikings. They’re immense. Everything is clicking. Favre has been amazing this season and i’m so glad he’s come out of retirement again and proven EVERYBODY wrong. He’s still got it, and he’s making sure everybody knows it. An average team has become a Superbowl contender because of 1 man coming in and doing his thing. I think the Cardinals are running out of steam and i don’t see them doing a repeat of last year and getting to the SB. Vikings win. Most definitely.

A – Graham an I both thought before the season started that the Cardinals weren’t likely to repeat post-season success, and with this game and the 49ers doing well they’re likely to find themselves struggling just to make the post-season.
Like Craig, I can’t look past the Vikings here, but I do think the Cards will give them a good game.

G – Vikings win, but as Andrew says it could be a close one. The Cards always look stronger at home.

Baltimore Ravens @ Green Bay Packers
C – Coming off a great divisional win last week, the Ravens will be full of confidence. They face a tough challenge this week though against the Packers on their own turf. It’s going to be very tough, but i’ll be looking towards the defence this week as i think this is what can win them the game. If they can put pressure on Rodgers they will get through to him and put him on his arse (pardon my French) many a time. Keep him occupied and we should be ok. If we don’t then he can cause a lot of trouble, he has a great arm and great receivers. Our defence on the rush is pretty good, so Ryan Grant should be kept in check. Then it’s all about Flacco and Rice doing their thing. Like i said, it will be very tough, but if we go in thinking we can win, we shall. Ravens win.

A – I like the Pack here. The Ravens haven’t been the dominant defensive team we’re used to them being (by their own high standards at least) and whilst Green Bay probably aren’t a great team, they are a very good team. I’m also a big fan of Rodgers, who I think is playing out of his skin back there behind the most porous o-line in the league. His numbers are incredible and like Craig says above – give him time and he’ll punish you. Packers to win.

G – Green Bay for me this week. I am looking forward to this game though, it could be a classic.

So there we are… we don’t disagree much this week, which is unusual. However, as is usually the case there are several games that could go either way… Let’s so how accurate we are!

Here we are with our second part of our Thanksgiving Weekend predictions.

Sunday 29th November

Miami Dolphins @ Buffalo Bills
A – With the Patriots apparently in control in the East, the Dolphins are looking to secure the second spot and aim for a wildcard berth. The Bills, as ever it seems, are struggling. WIth a new coach they gave the Jaguars a close game last week, and you have to think that there will have been more improvements between then and now. All things considered though, I’m going to back the Dolphins here.

G – I guess you already know who I am going with here right? This should be the Dolphins game and combined with a loss for the Pats and Jets could make the AFC East very interesting.

C – Dolphins for this one. The Bills did a good job last week against the run, but i think the Wildcat will be a bit much for them. Ricky to have another huge game.

Seattle Seahawks @ St. Louis Rams
A – The Seahawks are not the team that I’d thought they would be this season. I think that’s the fairest statement I can make about my early predictions! The Rams though… they most certainly are the team I thought they were: struggling, sometimes playing well, but not getting the results. This is one that could really go either way, but I think I’m leaning towards the Rams.

G – Its interesting that the bookies are giving the Rams quite a chance at home this week. I can’t see it myself so I am going with Seattle.

C – I’m going to go with the Rams this week, even though Bulger is out (isn’t that a good thing?). The Seahawks are running out of ideas offensively so i don’t expect anything exciting from them (cue the 5 big plays for TDs).

Washington Redskins @ Philadelphia Eagles
A – Gah! Another divisional matchup on the road for the ‘Skins. This one is intriguing though. The Washington D is still one of the best, and is playing hard and with pride. The Dallas game was there for the taking, setup entirely by the defensive play.
The Eagles have had trouble scoring, and I think we can give them a game. Graham accused me of “cursing” my team last week by not supporting them. I won’t make that mistake again. Redskins to win.

G – The Skins should have picked up a win last week. If it wasn’t for that pesky field goal….. The Eagles offer a tougher challenge than the Cowboys though and I think this will be an Eagles win.

C – I think this one will be close, pretty much like last week against the ‘boys, but i’m going for the Eagles to edge the win.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Atlanta Falcons
A – I’ve got to back the Falcons here. Although they were pipped by the Giants last week I’d have to back them against the rebuilding Bucs.

G – I’d like to see the Bucs keep improving, but it is a Falcons win for me this week.

C – This is a tough one, and i’ll probably regret sticking my neck out (like opting for the Browns last week) but i’m going for a Tampa Win. Just a gut feeling. They’re looking like a confident team with Freeman leading, sometimes one change is all you need (ala Titans)

Indianapolis Colts @ Houston Texans
A – I like the look of this game very much! The Texans are now solely the most frustrating team to call (the Jags are more predictable now). They have a losing record at home and despite playing a lot of good ball, just can’t seem to get it working. After getting above 500, I think they’re going to fall below that this week. Colts to win.

G – The Colts should keep going with a win here.

C – As much as i like Houston and Schaub, I’m going for the Colts win.

Cleveland Browns @ Cincinnati Bengals
A – The Bengals are 5-0 in the AFC North and could make a complete sweep with victory over the Browns. Both teams are coming off losses that must hurt, but I fancy the Bengals to be both better and mentally stronger.

G – I can’t see the Browns clocking up points like last week, and I can’t see them getting a win here. Bengals are my pick.

C – Bengals for me too. The Bengals defence should hold up better than the Lions did against Quinn, and i see the Browns defence having a similar game as last week.

Carolina Panthers @ New York Jets
A – Tricky one again. The Panthers are showing some life and Mark Sanchez is going backwards, and the rest of the team can’t support him.
Panthers to win.

G – This could end up being a close one! I am going with the Panthers, but I am not sure how swung I am by my hopes for the AFC East.

C – I’m opting for the Jets win this week. More balanced side, i suppose it basically comes down to which Sanchez turns up though.

Kansas City Chiefs @ San Diego Chargers
A – There aren’t many teams I’d pick over the Chargers. The Chiefs certainly aren’t one of them, even coming off a big win over the Steelers.

G – The Chargers are looking great right now, so they are my pick.

C – I agree with G, the Chargers are really coming along nicely and i see them winning by a good margin. Everyone in the team is stepping up. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them go far and push for a Superbowl place.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ San Francisco 49ers
A – The Jaguars go into this game with the momentum of three wins in a row. However, those have all been close games. 3 points being the highest difference. The 49ers are stumbling on, in a season which is shaping up to be a disappointment after such a promising start. However, the comparative weakness of the NFC West means a good run could put them into wildcard discussions. I think they’ll have enough to get past the Jags.

G – This is another one I want to watch. It feels good to be picking the 49ers again this week.

C – 49ers. They are a hard team to beat and i just don’t see the Jags breaking them down.

Arizona Cardinals @ Tennessee Titans
A – Talk about a turnaround team! That’s the Titans: 0-6 to start, then a 4-0 run. It remains to be seen if they can force them back into contention in the AFC South, and you’d have to think not, but ignore them at your peril.
The Cardinals have a firm grip on the NFC West, but have been erratic. Generally though, they’ve been strong and I’m picking them here.

G – Just how good are the Titans right now? I think this game should reveal all. I am going to pick the Cards here, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

C – Well… The Titans are certainly looking a better team with Vince Young leading the line aren’t they? The passing game, both offensively and defensively still needs some polish, but with 4 straight wins they can’t be that disappointed. I’m going with Tennessee to carry on their streak.

Chicago Bears @ Minnesota Vikings
A – At 9-1, the Vikings are looking very strong indeed but need to be vigilant and watch the Packers just below them. The Bears are further back and have been disappointing. I can’t see them doing much against the Vikings. Look for Jared Allen to greet his good friend Jay Cutler with a friendly sack or two.

G – This should be a business like win for the Vikings.

C – Can’t see anything but a Vikings win. Cutler to get picked at least 3 times against a monstrous defence.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens
A – Before the season started, we identified this match as a key decider in the battle for the AFC North. As it happens, the Bengals are currently safe at the top of the table, with the Steelers and Ravens close behind. That both teams are still in contention is surprising given some of the results this year so far.
This one is a coin-flip, but since we have to make a prediction I’m going to back the Steelers. I think when push comes to shove, across the board you can count on them more than the Ravens.

G – Oh, another great match-up. My head says Ravens, but my heart says Steelers. I am going with the Steelers.

C – My heart says Ravens but my head says Steelers. So i’m going for the Ravens win to go 6-5. Let’s go Ray Rice, let’s go!!

Monday 30th November

New England Patriots @ New Orleans Saints
A – What a great matchup this promises to be. The unbeaten Saints host the Patriots. With a win, the Saints have as good as secured the NFC South… with five games to go. The Patriots are sitting atop the AFC East, but need to stay strong. I don’t see the Saints going 16-0 this season, and generally I like the Pats in this matchup. Patriots to win.

G – I hope this turns out to be the kind of game you would imagine it to be. I can’t wait to watch this one. As for the winner, I feel the Saints might just edge it.

C – Massive game with massive potential to be the game of the season. I want to say the Saints will continue their season as it has been thus far, but my gut tells me to go with the Patriots win.

An early start this week, again, as Thanksgiving is here.

Here are our picks for the three games that are taking place this Thursday.

Thursday November 26th

Green Bay Packers @ Detroit Lions
A – The Lions are back after their heroic win over the Browns just a few days ago. Stafford is almost certainly out, so we’ll get to see Daunte Culpepper. But I can’t look past the Packers here. The Lions are ranked 31st in yards per game and last for points. Even taking his usual 4-5 sacks, Aaron Rodgers will have funtimes. Add Ryan Grant and the 3rd ranked Defense, and the Lions are back to earth with a bump.

G – Such a shame that Stafford is out, as it would have made the game a lot more interesting if he were playing. However, I still don’t think it would have changed the overall outcome. A Green Bay win for me.

C – Packers get my vote. Their offense might look good against the Browns but the Lions will struggle this week due to the lack of Stafford and most likely Johnson. Green Bay, for all their offensive line flaws, have a good set up and will score some points.

Oakland Raiders @ Dallas Cowboys
A – All three Thanksgiving games run the real risk of having the apparent underdog take a win, and this is no exception. The Cowboys had trouble scoring against the Redskins, but are unlikely to have that problem here. The Raiders are coming off an impressive win against the Bengals… a game which they fought tooth and nail for. With Gradkowski running the offence, this team is a different proposition.
I see a close game, but the Cowboys taking it.

G – This could hopefully end up being a close game. But I don’t think that the Cowboys were bad as such last week, it was just a very even game. The Raiders will be looking to build on their impressive win last week, but I think the Cowboys will be just a little too much for them.

C – Cowboys. They’re going to come out with something to prove to themselves and everyone watching. A few disappointing weeks will give them the extra drive they need.

New York Giants @ Denver Broncos
A – The Broncos could enter crisis mode anytime, and that’s if they’re not already there. The rookie coach is struggling to turn things around, the offense are getting in each others’ faces and some of the D clearly quit against the Chargers last week. In this position, you need strong leadership and it remains to be seen if McDaniels is the man.
The Giants had their own 4 week slide, but got a good win against the Falcons last week. Everyone thought the NFC East was theirs for the taking, but looks like it’ll be a fight after all. One they need to step up to.

G – This one could go either way as they both remain very hard teams to predict. The Giants have been good on the road though, and I can see them taking this one. Giants win.

C – Tough one. Both teams have been disappointing as of late. I’d think that the Giants have a bit more about them than the Bronco’s though. Giants win.

A clean sweep from us for these games. We’ll have the weekend games up later in the week.

I know, I know! We’re late, as there was a game last night. Our predictions for that game were typed up yesterday morning, so you’ll have to trust us when we say that we both picked the 49ers.

Here are the rest of our predictions for week 10 of the NFL 2009 season…

Thursday 12th November

Chicago Bears @ San Francisco 49ers
A – The Bears have been struggling, and were given a real spanking by Arizona last week. The 49ers though, are on a four game losing streak but three of those have been close games that were lost by inches. I fancy them here.

G – The 49ers are nothing if not exciting! They can’t lose this one, can they? I have faith and expect them to return to winning ways this week. Hey, didn’t I say that last week?

Sunday 15th November

Atlanta Falcons @ Carolina Panthers
A – What should be a great NFC South matchup might still be, but doesn’t have the top-of-the-table connotations we might have hoped for. At 3-5, this season isn’t going the way the Panthers will have hoped, but all is not necessarily lost. The Falcons are also stuttering a bit after a good start, but will have an eye on the postseason, so there is lots to play for in what’s already a charged match.
I think the Falcons will have enough, but it should be a close one.

G – This is a tough one to call. At first glance it is a an easy pick for the Falcons, but the Panthers are improving and have the home advantage. I’ll pick the Falcons, but not by any margin.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Miami Dolphins
A – The Bucs were great last week against the Packers, and I really enjoyed the end of the game. I can’t look past the Dolphins here though, so for once Graham and I will both be backing his team.

G – Tampa pulled last weeks game from nowhere! It might well have been the Wembley magic that helped them, but this week they face another team who have visited our capital. Expect a Miami win here.

Detroit Lions @ Minnesota Vikings
A – This looks a mismatch, if ever there was one. Vikings stroll in the dome.

G – I am with Andrew. Easy Vikings win.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ New York Jets
A – The Jags are an infuriating team! As bad as the Texans to call (who thankfully are off this week. The Jets have lost two straight at home, but think they’ll stop that run here.

G – The Jets will be too much for the Jags this week. Jets win for me.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Pittsburgh Steelers
A – I’m going with the Bengals here. I like all they’re doing, and they’ve already picked up some good wins at home and on the road.

G – This should be an interesting one to watch, but a Steelers win for me.

New Orleans Saints @ St. Louis Rams
A – Saints to cruise to a win.

G – The Rams are coming off of a win….oh hold on it was against the Lions. Who are they facing this week….oh the Saints. I’ll stop writing now.

Buffalo Bills @ Tennessee Titans
A – Like Graham, I think this could be close. But the Titans’ recent form and confidence that has bought will get them by the Bills.

G – I think the Bills could pull something off here, but I am not confident enough to back them. Titans win for me.

Denver Broncos @ Washington Redskins
A – I fancy the ‘Skins here, and it’s not just fan-blindness (probably). The Broncos are struggling to score and after a strong start are faltering slightly. They have a new coach, and I reckon he’ll struggle to make adjustments to get them winning again. If we can control their running game, I don’t fancy Orton being able to win the game in the air.

G – Quick! Get the fan blindness specs out. There is no way the Skins will hold the Broncos back.

Kansas City Chiefs @ Oakland Raiders
A – Talk about a must-see game! Chiefs to win a barnstormer!

G – This could either be very exciting, or very boring. The Raiders are used to losing at home and that’s good because I think they are heading for another loss this week.

Seattle Seahawks @ Arizona Cardinals
A – I’m very close to picking the ‘Hawks here, for reasons I can’t quite pin down. All sensible arguments are with the Cardinals though, but I do think it’ll be closer than is expected. Cards to win.

G – I am going with the Cards here.

Dallas Cowboys @ Green Bay Packers
A – I’m picking Green Bay. I just don’t fancy the Cowboys to get it done here, though they’ll get the expected 4-5 sacks that the Packers give up every week.

G – I am going to pick the Cowboys, but this is another where it really could go either way. I am sure that Green Bay will be hurting after last weeks loss, but I am not sure they can bounce back this week.

Philadelphia Eagles @ San Diego Chargers
A – The Chargers had a great game against the Giants last week, and the Eagles lost a close game to the Cowboys. You can never write off the chargers, but I think the Eagles will sneak by them.

G – The Eagles are looking good enough to win this. I am going with the home advantage for the Chargers though

New England Patriots @ Indianapolis Colts
A – Woah, great game! This is a real test of the Patriots who have failed to convince a lot of people yet this year. The Colts are undefeated going into this one, and I’m expecting them to still be so when it’s all finishes. Colts win, but a strong Pats’ showing.
But let’s face it, who will be surprised if the Pats get the win? And one thing’s for sure, if this was a post-season game I’l be backing the Patriots.

G – Another hard one to call and another game I can’t wait to watch. Both teams are on great form, but I have to go with the Colts just taking it.

Monday 16th November

Baltimore Ravens @ Cleveland Browns
A – The Ravens will surely bounce back here against a woeful Browns’ side.

G – Postal vote from Graham, who I had to text because he’d missed this one (though I could have guessed for him, I think): Ravens’ win.

Week 9 is here! We’ve been a bit hit and miss recently, and have got caught out on a couple of occassions on games that really shouldn’t have gone the way they did.

13 games again this week, let’s see how we fare this time with our predictions…

Sunday November 8th

Kansas City Chiefs @ Jacksonville Jaguars
A – Maurice Jones-Drew gave a masterclass last week, but the team as a whole couldn’t hang with a resurgent Titans.
The Chiefs are getting better. Slowly. But have beaten nobody of note (oh, that hurt to type that). I expect the Jaguars to find a way to win a close game.

G – This could end up being a good game to watch, but as Andrew says, the Jaguars should come good. For my fantasy team at least I will be hoping for another good performance from Maurice Jones-Drew.

Houston Texans @ Indianapolis Colts
A – The Texans are 2 games above .500 for the first time ever, and as well placed to improve on their franchise record of 8 wins and challenge for a spot in the post-season.
The Colts are unbeaten, but have a tough five weeks coming up with the Texans twice, the Patriots, Ravens and Titans. I can seem them splitting the games with the Texans (who continue to confound us, and everyone else, with their erratic play) so will go with the home team here: Colts to win a close game.

G -I dread predicting the Texans game each week. What team will turn up? Well, this week I am confident that no matter which one we see, it won’t be good enough to beat the Colts.

Baltimore Ravens @ Cincinnati Bengals
A – The Ravens looked great last week against the Broncos, playing a strong defense but also putting up points with apparent ease. The Bengals have some impressive wins so far this season, including the Steelers and already the Ravens. So a really tough game to call, but I’m going to stick my neck out and go with the Bengals.

G -I like the way the Ravens are playing. This should be a close game, but I see the Ravens coming good here.

Arizona Cardinals @ Chicago Bears
A – The Cardinals had a bad, bad game against the Panthers last week. It was just one of those games where everything was going wrong – a lot of teams have one of those, it’s how they respond that is telling. They’ve already showed strong character in coming back from 1-2 to head the (admittedly weak) division. Their schedule looks… alright, but how they do in the four remaining divisional games will be critical, but they must be confident at the moment.
Jay Cutler’s “Don’t believe the hype” after their win over Cleveland puts perspective on their season so far. Other than the Steelers, it’s hard to pick out a notable win of their 4 so far this season and I think the Cards will have enough to get past them here.

G - I have been thinking on this one for sometime. Maybe I am just still upset that the Cards let us down last week? Well, I am giving them another pick this weekend. Lets hope it does the job.

Washington Redskins @ Atlanta Falcons
A – Well here we go again. Coming off the bye-week so refreshed and re-energised. But still with a decimated O-line and without Chris Cooley… Excuse me (*cries a little*). On the brightside, we can’t be worse than we were before the break, and our D can still play a bit. But I suspect we’re going to struggle – again – to put up points.
I expect a low scoring game, with the Falcons leading pretty much throughout. Falcons’ win.

G -The Redskins could do without a meeting with this strong Falcons team. Falcons win for me.

Green Bay Packers @ Tampa Bay Bucanneers
A – Phew! An easy game to call! Packers to win, Freeman to not look very good.

G -Lets hope that the Bucs picked up a bit of magic during their London visit. As much as I want to see them put up a good fight, it will be a Green Bay win.

Miami Dolphins @ New England Patriots
A – Another juicy AFC East matchup. This division sure has a lot of them.
We saw the Pats win at a canter at Wembley. Well, a canter for half the game and a brisk walking pace for the second half. The Dolphins couldn’t produce anything offensively against the Jets, but found a way to win through the D and the special teams. I can’t see them managing that in the cold and wet weather of New England this weekend.

G -I don’t see this being a walk over, and it is great to see Ted Ginn back on form, but the Pats are on top form at the moment. Lets just hope they don’t have their lucky snow. Pats win.

Detroit Lions @ Seattle Seahawks
A – One win aside, the Lions are still on the long road to recovery. And can you beleive that Matthew Stafford was getting booed against the Rams? MJD covers this nicely at his blog (which is worth reading for the comments as much as the articles).
The Seahawks aren’t the unit that I thought they would be this season. And it could have gone well, but too much just isn’t happening for them. In Detroit, I might have rooted for the Lions, but in Seattle the home team will win this game but aren’t doing much else this season.

G -Seahawks win here for me.

Carolina Panthers @ New Orleans Saints
A – The Saints aren’t gonna go 16-0 are they? Surely…
They’ve made a good start though, and their comprehensive beating of Atlanta last week was actually their closest game yet. Whilst any game can go either way, the Patriots and the Cowboys are the most obvious spoilers in their remaining games. But with the Panthers, Rams and Bucs up next nobody would be surprised to see them 10-0.
The Panthers had a great win last week against the Cardinals. Was it just one of those games where everything came together, or have they really turned a corner after their appalling start? We’ll see, but I expect the Saints to win this, and Jake Delhomme to be turning the ball over more often than is good for his team.

G – Expect the Saints to continue their wonderful form at home this week.

Tennessee Titans @ San Francisco 49ers
A – Gah, here we go with the tricky games for this week! The Titans no longer have a 0 in the win column and although they did a good job against the Jaguars last week, I think they’re done for the season.
The 49ers are coming off a 3 game losing streak, but thanks to the weakness of the NFC West are still in second with enough time to make a run for a post-season spot. Alex Smith, a player whom I like, is starting at QB and they gave the Colts a good game last week. I’ve got to back them here.

G – Ah, that’s better, I get to pick the 49ers again. Don’t read too much into this though, I have been wrong a few times, but I still feel there is more to come from them.

San Diego Chargers @ New York Giants
A – And another tricky one. The Giants are also coming off a 3 game losing streak, and their early season wins don’t look so impressive now their opponents have been beaten by pretty much everyone else.
The Chargers are doing their usual mid-table thing. They’re both better and worse than their record suggests and are always a team that you ignore at your danger. Philip “You Suck” Rivers is having another good year, numbers-wise and over the last two weeks the whole team has turned up.
However, I cannot see the Giants losing four straight games. And with the advantage of being on the east coast, I think they’ll rise to the challenge here.

G -Well, we lost one of our ‘bankers’ on the Giants last week. It was not bad enough that I wouldn’t call them here though. Giants win.

Dallas Cowboys @ Philadelphia Eagles
A – We didn’t anticipate this, but with the Cowboys finding some form and the Giants struggling this game should go some way to shaping the NFC East. The rematch is in week 17, and both teams will be hoping the division is settled by then.
I’m going with the Eagles. McNabb and the receivers are dangerous, and I don’t like the Cowboys’ chances of stopping them.

G – Eagles for me too. They look great at the moment.

Monday 9th November

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Denver Broncos
A – The Broncos came up short against the Ravens last week, and the Steelers are coming out of the bye-week on a four game winning streak. I can see them making it five.
The Broncos and rookie coach McDaniels have been surprisinng, but I’m expecting them to slow and struggle in the second half of the season.

G – I am looking forward to this one and I think the Broncos will bring out something special to take the win.

Attention New Arrivals!

We’ve no idea (though we do have some suspicions) why google loves sending people here to week 8. However, to get quickly to the most recent predictions you can click the shortcuts here on the right —->
Thanks for visiting!
Mac and the Team.

Original article continues…

After a fantastic day at Wembley last Sunday, we will be back on the sofa for these games. There are some good ones to watch too!

Andrew will be doing his best to catch up, and as ever there are a few that we disagree on. No guest to put us to shame this week though. If you are interested in doing guest predictions next week then please get in touch.

Just 13 games again this week.

Sunday 1st Novembers
Denver Broncos @ Baltimore Ravens
A – Week 8 and the undefeated Broncos travel to Baltimore. Yeah… After starting 3-0, the Ravens have suffered 3 consecutive close losses to be at a failry humble 3-3. But the Patriots game went to the wire, and only a hooked field goal attempt let the Vikings win. This is a team that’s better than their record.
So a damned tricky game to call first up, but I’ve got to fancy the Ravens.

G – Ah, I think this is the first time we have picked a different team in the first game on the list. While the Ravens are the favourites at home I can see the Broncos continuing their form again this week. Should be a great one to watch and I won’t be too disapointed if I get this one wrong.

Houston Texans @ Buffalo Bills
A – Oh my goodness, two of the most erratic and hard to predict teams in one game. The Texans are well set for a post-season run, and I’d like to see them make it. The Bills are hanging in there right now, but are likely to see the Jets pull away from them this weekend however this game goes.
I’m backing the Texans here, but the weather could be a factor.

G – Second game and second disagreement! Fitzpatrick fits right in at QB and the Bill have pulled some form from nowhere. Again I am picking the underdog here, and agree that the Texans are probably the better team. However, they have not shown that they are up to the job week in week out. Bills for me here.

Cleveland Browns @ Chicago Bears
A – Got to pick the Bears here. They’ve not been great, but the Browns are just awful right now.

G – I have to agree on this one. Bears for me too.

Seattle Seahawks @ Dallas Cowboys
A – I’ve got to pick Dallas here. They have some momentum, they’re at home, and the Seahawks just aren’t that good on the road.

G -I expected to see nothing but wins at the new Cowboys stadium this year but it hasn’t really worked out like that so far. I can see this week bringing a win for the Cowboys though.

St. Louis Rams @ Detroit Lions
A – The 0-7 Rams visit the 1-5 Lions. In fact, from the beginning of the 2008 season these two teams have amassed a total of 3 wins. So one of them is going to look a lot better after this week!
…and it’ll be the Lions. I can see Steven Jackson having another big day, but the Lions can put points up a lot easier than the Rams can.

G – We should see the Lions pick up their second win of the season this Sunday.

San Francisco @ Indianapolis Colts
A – Alex Smith will be leading the 49ers, who as Graham says, are starting to slide a little bit after such a good start. The Colts though, are looking great all across the board and no-one is going to be surprised to see Freeney making a sack at some point.

G – Such a promising start for the 49ers. I am sure they can come back, but this is not going to be the week. The Colts are just too good right now.

Miami Dolphins @ New York Jets
A – A juicy AFC East matchup, and the game that Sky have chosen as the early game. Sorry Graham.
I suspect we’ll disagree about the result here too… I’m calling the Jets.

G – Stupid Gamepass blackouts. I am still resisting SKY after my past experiences with them tough. Miami are on the up and the Jets seem to be struggling to keep it together. The last clash between these two was a classic game. The loss against the Saints will be hurting the Dolphins and they will be looking to prove that the first half performance was no fluke. Miami win for me.

New York Giants @ Philadelphia Eagles
A – Both teams have suffered losses that they probably shouldn’t have recently. The mighty Giants have had two in a row, and the Eagles were beaten by Oakland. All things being equal, I’d back the Giants here and will stick with them.

G – The Giants aren’t going to let us down again right? Giants here for me.

Oakland Raiders @ San Diego Chargers
A – The Raiders can surprise, but it would take a braver person than I to back them here. Chargers’ win.

G – No contest really. Chargers should take this by some margin.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Tennessee Titans
A – The best 0-6 team ever… that’s not a tag any team wants, and the erratic Jaguars coming to town might be just what they need. Titans to get their first win of the season.

G – We were discussing the Titans while at Wembley. The verdict was that there must be deeper problems, it is not all Collins fault! I want to pick the Titans here for a win, but I just can’t do it. Jaguars for me.

Minnesota Vikings @ Green Bay Packers
A – This is a must-see game. Which is a shame, as it’s on Sky and therefore blacked out on Gamepass. Brett Favre makes his return to Lambeau Field in what will be more of a cauldron-like atmosphere than usual.
Green Bay’s inability to protect Aaron Rodgers cost them in the previous meeting and that doesn’t look to have improved a great deal. However, I’m backing the Pack to get it done at home.

G – I think I went with Green Bay the last time they met. I am going to do the same this time around, only I hope I get it right this time.

Carolina Panthers @ Arizona Cardinals
A – The Panthers are another team that have been very disappointing this term, and the Cards are coming off a great win against the Giants. Look for them to continue their good form.

G – Arizona seem to get better and better. I can see this turning into a good game, but the Cards should come out ahead.

Monday 2nd November
Atlanta Falcons @ New Orleans
A – This could be a great game, but I can’t look past the Saints who have been impressive on both sides of the ball.

G – Another great one to watch. New Orleans should add another to their record though.

I need to make up some ground on Graham this week! After two successive 7-7 weeks, I really need to step my predictions and start scoring!

Just 13 games this week. Here are our picks for the 2009 NFL week 7 season:

Sunday 25th October

Green Bay Packers @ Cleveland
A – OK, so an easy one to start with. The Browns have been pretty bad so far and their schedule doesn’t get any easier from here on and there is talk that Mangini has already lost the team. They’re last for yards per game allowed and are 27th in total points. This is not a unit that’s going to stop you scoring.
The Packers came out of the bye-week and shut out the Lions to go a respectable 3-2. If they can get the running game moving and protect Aaron Rodgers, then they’re gonna tear it up in Ohio.

G – Packers for me too. As Andrew says, the Browns have not been good and the home advantage probably won’t save them this week.

San Francisco 49ers @ Houston Texans
A – I swear that I’m ready to give up even calling any game that has the Texans in. I should really fancy them here, but after some good seasons at home they’ve already lost twice at Reliant Stadium this term and are being erratic. The 49ers are coming of a Falcons sized drubbing last week and will want to bounce back. Apart from last week, they’ve looked good so far.
However I’m going to stick my neck out, once more, and back the Texans here.

G -Ah, the second prediction and already we are picking different teams. So, I have picked the 49ers for five of the six weeks that have passed so far, it would have been six, but there was no chance of winning on the bye week. Frank Gore returns this week and there are defensive changes for the better. 49ers for me again here, which should pull me one ahead of Andrew

San Diego Chargers @ Kansas City Chiefs
A – The Chiefs might have dispatched the ‘Skins, but that was as we just couldn’t score. Defensively the Redskins are a sound unit. I can see the Chiefs scoring more than last week, but they won’t outscore the Chargers. San Diego win.

G -I think KC are better than people give them credit for, but there is still work to do. The Chargers should offer a better challenge than the Cowboys did two weeks back. Oh, and obviously a better challenge than that training game last week.

Minnesota Vikings @ Pittsburgh
A – The tie of the week? This is just juicy. The Vikings are undefeated so far, though have needed a ludicrous dying seconds catch (against the 49ers) and a missed field goal (Ravens) to keep that record. In the second half last week, the Vikes couldn’t stop the Ravens at all.
Pittsburgh are doing OK. They could have gone the wrong way after ‘wobbling’ to 1-2, but have come back strongly. There’s no doubt they’re a quality outfit and a post-season favourite. If they can keep Jared Allen away from Big Ben, they’ll have enough here to bloody the Vikings’ nose as they head into the bye week.

G - Oh yes, this should be a good one. This would be top of my list to watch if I were not going to be at Wembley. I am with Andrew on this one, a Steelers win.

Indianapolis Colts @ St. Louis Rams
A – Colts. By lots.

G – It was good to see the Rams put some points on the board last week. Make the most of it Rams fans, there won’t be many this Sunday.

New England Patriots @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Wembley Stadium, London

A – Whilst I’m looking forward to this game, very much, I do wish that something a little more competetive could be taking place at Wembley this year. Pats to coast to a comfortable lead early on and not look back.

G – Ah the BIG ONE! I am so so glad that the Bucs have been getting better in recent weeks. Is that enough to save them in London? Well, no not really, but it might mean that we get to see a battle, even if it is on a small scale. I was glad that they took Brady off in last weeks game, because I am so looking forward to seeing him lead the great team. That said, I will be supporting the Bucs as it is their home game.

Buffalo Bills @ Carolina Panthers
A – I’ve got to back the Panthers here. The Bills are struggling, and though they snuck a good win against the Jets last week that was purely as they made fewer mistakes. The Panthers have been a long way from perfect, but they’re better than this Bills side.

G – This is so hard, the Bills are bad, no, good, no bad….ah I just don’t know. Let me look at the Panthers…. hmm they are good, no, bad, no good. On the strength of last week I am going to back the Bills, but really this could go either way.

New York Jets @ Oakland Raiders
A – Oakland continue to offer the odd surprise. Last week’s win against the Eagles was a big one but this is a team that is not at all consistent. Can they do it two weeks running? For the Jets, their loss against the Bills will have hurt. Sanchez had a shocker of a game and the D didn’t do well enough against backup QB Ryan Fitzpatrick and the running game. I fancy the Jets here, to get a good win.

G – I bet T-Rex Ryan is so so pleased that he faces the Raiders this week. It is a must win game and well within the Jets grasp. Sanchez looked like his confidence took a real knock last week, Ryan must make sure he puts his mind at ease so that they can get back to winning ways. It has to be a Jets win for me, but I would be delighted to see the Raiders dig deep and put up a fight.

Chicago Bears @ Cincinnati Bengals
A – This is a tricky one to call. The Bengals have been surprisingly good at the Bears have had some good wins at Seattles and – like the Bengals – against the Steelers. I like the Bengals though, and am backing them here.

G – Last week was just a blip, the Bengals will be back to form this week.

Atlanta Falcons @ Dallas Cowboys
A – I’m backing the Falcons here. I don’t see it being a close one either.

G – Tough one. For the home advantage alone I am picking the Cowboys, but again this could go either way.

New Orleans Saints @ Miami Dolphins
A – Sorry Graham. Saints at a canter.

G – Everyone tips the Dolphins for the Super Bowl this year…..whats that? Oh, the Saints you say? Stupid week 7 games! Miami have been great at home, but even they can’t stop the Saints this week.

Arizona Cardinals @ New York Giants
A – I have to fancy the Giants here. The Cards can play, but not this week.

G – A tough week for the giants last week, and a good week for the Cards. If this were not in New York then I might think twice, but Giants all the way for me here.

Monday 26th October
Philadelphia Eagles @ Washington Redskins
A – Unfortunately, I’ve got to back the Eagles here for a result that will probably see Jim Zorn shown the door.

G – I almost couldn’t beleive my eyes last week. The Eagles losing to the Raiders? Hopefully this will make the game a bit closer here in Washington, but I still feel it is going to take some weeks to rebuild some Skins confidence. Eagles win here for me.

This week we’re pleased to welcome Craig to the site to cast his eye over this weekend’s game. Craig is from the Black Country and supports the Dallas Cowboys (boo!). As a Villa fan, he also has a connection to the Cleveland Browns as well.

He’s heading to Wembley this weekend, where we shall try and meet up with him. Anyway… over to Craig

—

Indianapolis Colts @ St. Louis Rams
Colts to win. They have been nothing short of impressive this term: Manning is as good as ever, the wide receiver roster is performing well (Garcon and Collie have stepped up this year), the running backs are doing their bit (Brown has impressed me) and defensively they are looking pretty solid. The Rams will do nothing against them and will rack up another loss in a disappointing season thus far. 35-3 Colts blow-out.

New England Patriots @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Wembley Stadium, London
New England to win. No contest. Tampa have been atrocious this season.
After the Pats destroyed the Titans last week even before half time I can’t see them losing this Sunday. Brady will pick the Tampa defence to bits. Williams might create something for the Bucs, but it’s not going to make any difference. 34-6 Pats.

Green Bay Packers @ Cleveland Browns
Green Bay to win.
I like Green Bay… their set-up is very likeable. They have some quality players on their roster and when they gel then they are nigh-on unstoppable. Rodgers linking with Driver, Jennings, Finley… Grant running amock. All they need to do is improve their offensive line. Rodgers is getting sacked way too often; Grant isn’t being given a chance when running. Get that sorted and they would have won those games that they have lost this season. Cleveland have improved as of late and defensively they are looking tough to beat. A shame that their offence isn’t up to scratch. 28-7 Packers.

Minnesota Vikings @ Pittsburgh Steelers
The Vikings have really impressed me this season. They’re composed and focused, and it’s shown. Having the experience and talent of Favre at the head of the team is clearly showing its worth. The Steelers have not performed like the Superbowl winners of last year. They’re not played badly, but they’ve made a meal of games they should have walked easily; during the 4th quarter especially.
They need to stay sharp and shut games down. That said, they aren’t doing that so I can see the Vikings getting a score in the final 3 minutes to take the win. 28-21 Vikings.

San Francisco 49ers @ Houston Texans
Houston to win. Another two teams that have impressed me this term. Houston’s offence and the 49ers defence (Falcons game not included). I think that game shook them up a little so they will either come out all guns blazing or with a nervous look about them. If it’s the latter then Schaub, who is in the running for a pro-bowl appearance, will have a field day. San Fran are struggling offensively, and it will be interesting to see whether Crabtree is finally utilised. 3TD and another 300yds for Schaub in my eyes. 24-10 Houston.

San Diego Chargers @ Kansas City Chiefs
The Chargers must be hurting. Losing games they expect to win and playing within themselves. Rivers longest pass this season is a mere 25yds! He needs to be looking for defence breaking passes and getting some yardage instead of going safe every play. If you throw it Jackson will catch it, so go for the risk Phil. LDT is back too after a couple of games out so I’d like to see him run the ball 15-20 times. That should be more than enough to cause some trouble. Plus the Chiefs have won 1 of 6 this season, they shouldn’t put up much of a fight. 31-10 Chargers.

Buffalo Bills @ Carolina Panthers
This won’t be a match that will grab many headlines. Neither team are performing well. TO has been a disappointment and Steve Smith has been overthrown as the dominate Steve Smith in the division by the Giants man. A quiet game with few big plays and lots of field goals. 13-9 Panthers.

New York Jets @ Oakland Raiders
Jets to win. Oakland pick up the result of season in my eyes so far, a shocking win against an Eagles side that under-performed. Badly. Same could be said for the Jets. A shocking win for the Bills against a Jets team that struggled. Sanchez must shoulder the blame for this, how he copes with it will be interesting. The only plus point from that game was Thomas Jones playing out of his skin. However I foresee them to bounce back and beat a struggling Oakland. 17-3 Jets.

Atlanta Falcons @ Dallas Cowboys
Falcons to win. Dallas must be the most inconsistent and frustrating teams to watch. They’re either brilliant, or dire. No inbetween. Romo, for all the hate he gets has the potential to be a great quarterback. For some reason he seems to show this on occasion but totally fluff it up the next. The running game will be Dallas’ focal point against the Falcons anyway, and with Jones back they have 3 excellent backs at their disposable. The Falcons seem to have finally found some mojo and are putting together a nice little run. Ryan is stepping up and doing his bit well, and Turner the Burner is running like a man possessed. It will be close, but I think Ryan will stay focused and get a winning drive out of his team while Romo looks on at what he could have done differently. 21-17 Falcons.

New Orleans Sants @ Miami Dolphins
Saints to win. Easy decision (lol, will I live to regret that comment?). Saints are on a roll and are much looking like a Superbowl team. Everything they do seems to work, and Brees can’t be stopped apparently. They also do well at shutting the running game down, which is what Miami will be looking to do. Can’t see them getting too much joy out of this match-up. 38-10 Saints.

Chicago Bears @ Cincinnati Bengals
Bengals to win. The Cardiac Cats as they have been dubbed this season. Some amazing 4th quarter performances by these guys. Palmer has stepped up and is having a great season and Cedric Benson has been a breath of fresh air. Chicago have Jay Cutler, who has had some good and some bad performances, and Matt Forte who has been largely disappointing and ineffective this season. The Bears are a good side, but I feel that the Bengals have the momentum, the heart and the better options to win this game. 21-14 Bengals.

Arizona Cardinals @ New York Giants
Giants to win. The Cardinals proved last week that stats mean nothing. Ranked last in pass defence and yet they completely shut down Hasselbeck and the Seahawks. Impressive defensive performance. The Giants, not so impressive last week. Eli looked frustrated against a monstrous Saints side. They will be looking to shake that off and get back on the winning track. The Giants are a good side who had a bad week, and the Cards are an average side who had a great week. I expect order to be restored. 28-14 Giants.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Washington Redskins
Eagles to win. Eagles will be looking to get back to winning ways after a humiliating defeat at the hands of Oakland. What better way than against a struggling Redskins team? Campbell hasn’t looked like the man to lead this Skins team forward. Portis has had on/off games and the defence doesn’t really look settled. 31-7 Eagles.
