On paper at least it looks like an easy week to read. That has been the kiss of death in the past though, so lets see how we get on.
Our NFL picks for week 6 as follows:
Baltimore @ Minnesota
A – The Ravens have stumbled a bit over the last few weeks and the Vikes are off to their best start in a while now. Whilst we can’t rule out a second half season Favre collapse yet, we probably can count on Jared Allen becoming good friends with Joe Flacco. Vikings win.
G – I am of the feeling that this one could go either way, but on paper I would take the Vikings. I can’t see it being an easy one, but it should be another winning week for Minnesota here.
We are delighted to have not one, but two expert guests for the predictions this week. Earlier Lawrence gave us his selections . Now we welcome Brian Davis from www.footballdiner.com as our second guest for week 6.

Hello there Mac Talks NFL readers. My name is Brian Davis and I’m from www.footballdiner.com I’m new to writing for the site this year but have been a reader since its creation following the sad end of First Down and after initially filling in for a friend I have now become a weekly contributor on three fronts during the season and one through the year.
Firstly; “Four Downs” where myself and another writer “Doc” discuss 4 subjects in the news for that week. (http://www.footballdiner.com/profootballfeatureswriter.html) Look for “Dang and Doc” I’m Dang, short for Dangerous Brian based on the Brian Conley character. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ih9kU_CatCg
Secondly; A weekly College Football prediction competition with two other writers and thirdly; I have started doing a weekly “tips” column for the site with some success. Although if teams like the Broncos and the Bengals continue to prove me wrong every week, I may have to become even more conservative than I already have become on there!
I recently interviewed Five’s Nat Coombs http://www.footballdiner.com/natcoombs.html and look out next week as I will be interviewing a very, very, special guest on Monday afternoon, so we will hopefully have that article up online by around Tuesday/Wednesday next week.
Again here at Mac talks NFL, we’re delighted to have a Guest Predictor. We’d hoped to get Lawrence last week, but he’s been on a Miami Road Trip (you can read about it at his blog). But he’s home now!
Graham and my NFL predictions will be up later. We’re a bit behind after being at Wembley Stadium last night. Over to Lawrence!

It’s a pleasure to cast my eye into what has become a rather murky and disturbing crystal ball for Week 6 NFL predictions.
I say disturbing because my team the Washington Redskins are being billed as the worst 2-3 team in NFL history, the Josh ‘Jacobs’ McDaniels led Denver Broncos are 5-0 behind a rookie rb and goddam Kyle Orton, and Brett Favre is looking like the Messiah behind a defense led by the guy I think will be NFL Defensive MVP (Jared Allen) and a running back that is pure class.
I run my own blog – www.nflfaninengland.wordpress.com – so to be recognised by another NFL fan as someone who can contribite to their site is a real honour.
Without further ado here goes with NFL Week 6 predictions;

As is the case most weeks, there are some great match-ups this week and some that are hard to make predictions on.
But that’s what we’re here for! So here are our NFL picks for week 5:
Cincinnati Bengals @ Baltimore Ravens
A – The Bengals are doing surprisingly well and have wins over ‘big’ AFC teams. The Ravens are also doing well, but it’s far less surprising. Last week’s loss against the Patriots was a very finely poised game of football and really could have gone either way. The final drive was great viewing, and Mark Clayton really should have made that catch.
Anyway… I’ve got to back the Ravens again here. The Bengals are no pushovers, but I think they’re going to get well beaten this week.
G -If the Bengals were at home then this would be a very close call. I think the home advantage will swing it here for the Ravens.

So we’ve had a couple of weeks off from having a guest, and after Andrew being somewhat humbled in week 1 we’re moving away from having Guests who know nothing. This week, we’re very pleased to have our guest introduce themself, and to say that if you’ve any interest in betting on the games, you should definitely check his site out.
Hello Mac talks NFL readers. I’m John from TheBettingAdvantage.com. I started my blog in November 2008 in an effort to share and gain knowledge related to sports betting. Presently I make a living from trading on betting exchanges. I first learned of betting exchanges in July 2007, while in my last year of university. I did finish my engineering degree but never pursued work in the field as being a betting exchange trader is my dream job. I mostly trade North American sports as I have lived all my life in Canada.
I have been following along on here with Andrew and Graham’s picks and am honoured to give my two cents for this week’s NFL games.
Detroit Lions @ Chicago Bears
I grew up watching Barry Sanders and unfortunately for me he made me a Detroit Lions fan. The Lions are one of the teams I’ve watched the most in the past few years. Last week was a big win for the franchise. It was obvious they would end the streak at home as they struggle on the road. This week they are overmatched and in Chicago. The Lions will likely be waiting for week 8 before they win another one. Chicago shouldn’t have too much trouble here.

Week 4 of the NFL 2009 season is coming our way, and with the bye-weeks starting there are just 14 games this week for us to make predictions on. There are some great looking matchups too!
Here are our picks for this week…
Sunday October 4th
Detroit Lions @ Chicago Bears
A – The 1-2 Lions come bouncing off their win last week that arrested their 19 game slide and travel to Chicago to face the Bears who seem to have woken up after a slow first week. Jay Cutler has been on great form and the defense has done well in two potentially tricky matches in weeks 2 and 3. I think it’s a return to 2008 form for the Lions here.
G – Agreed. I was happy to see the Lions finally getting a win last week (sorry it had to be against the Redskins Andrew!), and while I do see them getting better as the season goes on, this game is not going to be theirs.

Week 2 is done, as was as tough as we thought it would be to make predictions on.
Here are our picks for week 3 of the NFL 2009 season.
Sunday 27th September
Cleveland Browns @ Baltimore Ravens
A – The Browns weren’t good last week, and the Ravens were. This will continue this week as the Ravens move to 3-0.
G - Same thoughts here. The Ravens have been getting better each game so far.
Washington Redskins @ Detroit Lions
A – I hate to say it but this is a tough, tough game to call. The Lions have been much improved so far this season, though they couldn’t stay with the Vikings last week. The Redskins have looked good on defence, but the offence is not clicking yet. On paper, this is the Lions’ easiest game for a while and it’s in their house, so I really think they could take it. However, with my thoughts so close, I’m going to have to back the Redskins. If they can convert just one or two field goals into touchdowns, they’ll be able to beat the Lions.
G – Sorry Andrew, but I think this could be the Lions time to shine. They need this win so so bad now and they will be boosted by Washingtons poor performance last week. I am going to back them. err….is this the third week I have said the Lions will do it?
Week 1 is gone, and we’re already looking forward to some more great matchups this weekend. Some tough ones to chose though, as shown at the Yahoo! Pick ‘Em page where Jason Cole and Charles Robinson disagree on 7 matches… I could do with that happening between Graham and me, as I need to catch up. Here’s our predictions for week 2:
Carolina @ Atlanta
A – The Panthers are coming of a mauling from the Eagles, whilst Atlanta made short work of the Dolphins. I expect the Panthers to be much improved from week 1, but not to have enough to beat the Falcons.
G – I think Miami flattered Atlanta’s performance, but even so they should have enough to keep the Panthers down.
New Orleans @ Philadelphia
A – If week one was anything to go by, then this one good be a high scoring affair! The Saints beat the Eagles twice in 2006, but are 0-2 in the NFC East since then. The Eagles may well be without Donovan McNabb, which makes things a lot tougher for them. Even if he does, I fancy the Saints here.
G – New Oleans looked great last weekend. They faced a Detroit that were better than expected. The Eagles will be a harder test, especially away from home, but I fancy them to do the business again.
Each week at Mac Talks NFL, we include the opinions of a guest predictor. This person is someone from here in the UK who knows nothing about the NFL or American Football, but who will make predictions based on the team names alone.
If we beat them, we can point to our superior knowledge of the game. If they beat us, we can point out that we don’t take ourselves too seriously. It’s a no-lose for us, really.
This week’s Guest is Chloe from Watford.
So here we go. The long off-season, and the seemingly long pre-season are done and we’re ready to rock. There are very few dull games in the NFL (on paper at least!) but this week looks like a great way to start the season: some great divisional matchups and some interesting stories all across the board.
There are no easy games to call, but this week has some tough ones even by NFL standards…
