Indianapolis Colts
Wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez may miss 2-6 weeks after picking up an injury against the Jaguars last weekend.
Yesterday we reported that the Eagles had released Hank Baskett, well the Colts have now snapped him up as cover for Gonzalez.
Philadelphia Eagles
Injured quarter back Donovan McNabb has still not been ruled out of playing against the Saints on Sunday.
While McNabb has played with injuries before a broken rib might have quite a detrimental effect on his game!
San Diego Chargers
LaDainian Tomlinson, Nick Hardwick and Louis Vasquez all missed practice on Thursday after picking up injuries against Oakland. This might leave them a little light when they face Baltimore in week 2.
Detroit Lions
Sad news that former coach Monte Clark has passed away. Clark led them to the play-offs twice. He was 72.

New York Jets
Former head coach Eric Mangini has been finned $125,000 by the NFL for his part in the Brett Favre injury cover up last season. Favre should have been placed on injury reserve at the end of last season due to his torn bicep tendon, and apparently discussed sitting some games out. As it was, he played (not so well, as it turned out), kept his streak alive, but left the Jets in the off-season.

Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles have promoted Michael Vick on to the 53 man roster. This now enables him to practice with the full team. This now means that he is available to play against Kansas on the 27th. Wide receiver Hank Baskett was released to make room on the roster.
Kansas City Chiefs
It is still not known if Matt Cassel will be able to play on Sunday when the Chiefs welcome Oakland. They have however signed a new wide receiver in the shape of Bobby Wade. Turk McBride has been released to make way for Wade.

Chicago Bears
Brian Urlacher is probably out for the season. The linebacker was placed on injured reserve after surgery on his dislocated wrist. After suffering the injury whilst tackling Ryan Grant, Urlacher played on for a while before the injury was checked out and its severity became clear.
Hunter Hillenmeyer will probably get the start at middle linebacker.

A great night of football last night! It was a shame about the Gampass problems (for those that use it), lets hope they get it right for next week and give everybody some kind of compensation.
Philadelphia Eagles
Donovan McNabb suffered a broken rib during the game against Carolina. It is not yet known how long he will be out for, but Michael Vick must be getting on edge now.

Oakland Raiders
Richard Seymour has still not reported into the Raiders. He has now reportedly been issued with a letter threatening season long suspension unless he reports by Tuesday. There would seem to be more to the story than meets the eye, but I guess we will have to wait until we hear Seymour speak.
Minnesota Vikings
An appeals court has cleared Pat and Kevin Williams (no relation) to play in Sunday’s clash with the Cleveland Browns, and for the rest of the season.

Pittsburgh Steelers
In a tight game that was only decided in overtime, the Steelers took the win against the Titans in a great matchup between two teams who are serious championship contenders.
Victory may have come at a cost though, with Troy Polamalu suffering a sprain to his left MCL. Scans are still underway, but he could miss up to 6 weeks. We’ll keep you posted. Before he left, he’d been playing an amazing game. Between closing on Chris Johnson to take him down for a loss to a one-handed interception he was all over the place making plays. If he is out for any serious time, he’ll be missed but the Steelers still have a solid defensive unit.

It’s opening day! The first NFL week 1 game sees the Titans visit the Steelers tonight. You can catch our views and NFL Week 1 Predictions here
Minnisota Vikings
Sorry, more Brett Favre news. Get used to it though it looks set to continue for the season, and probably for the next phase of his retirement.
Favre Said - “I may not finish the year. If you would have asked me my first year if I would finish I’d have said, ‘I may not,”’ Favre said. “No one thought I’d play 18 straight years without missing a game, me included. I have no idea what’s going to happen. ”
Not really big news, he ‘might’ get injured; he ‘might’ have a week off? It made the headlines though, so I am just passing it on.

The big news is that it is opening day tomorrow! Can’t wait to watch the Titans at the Steelers tomorrow night.
Oakland Raiders
Richard Seymour, the five-time Pro Bowl selection who was acquired from New England Partriots on Sunday has failed to turn up in Oakland for a second day.
It is still unclear what the reason is. It could be a contract issue, or simply a protest from Seymour over the move.

It looks like it is quarterback news day today…
Detroit Lions
This is the news I was itching to see – Matthew Stafford is the Lions starting quarterback. It’s not that I have anything against Daunte Culpepper, it’s just that on a personal level I want to see what Stafford can do and how he progresses through the season.
From the Lions point of view I think it is the right choice. It is a symbol of a fresh start, and that is something the whole of Detroit need right now. 2008 saw the team and the citys biggest industry on its knees.
I am very tempted to pick a Lions win in this weeks predictions, but I think that is coming more from the heart than the head.
